  • “Back & Betta Than Eva”

    Funded Jul 12, 2021

Since 2017, Donor's Choose has been a blessing to my teaching career. Having the opportunity to create a project that will be fully funded means the world to a classroom teacher. Its rewarding to be able to provide all the materials needed to help improve understanding ,and teach math concepts.

After remaining virtual , my students very very excited and getting back to in person learning. With the pandemic students are required to have individual supplies/ no sharing allowed.

It has been an incredible feeling to begin our school year with all your donations. A box was delivered each day for an entire week ,and our class was sooooo excited to open it !!! My students are grateful and appreciative for all the materials funded. We begin each day sanitizing our desk with the antibacterial wipes. They understand the importance of being safe. During math class we use our white boards daily ,along with our expo markers, mechanical pencils ,crayons ,and colored pencils.

The plexi glass allows me to individualize one on one with students and stay safe as we mask up.

Thank you to Clorox for allowing this project to be fully funded. We greatly appreciate your full donation to our class. It feels sooooo good to be "Back & Betta Than Eva"!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Penny's Classroom

  • Going Into Overdrive!

    Funded Feb 6, 2020

Within the last five years, Donors choose has been such a blessing to my teaching career. Having the opportunity to create a project that will be funded means the world to teachers like myself. It's an incredible and fulfilling to be able to provide my 5th grade students with needed supplies to continue our year, and above all to achieve this without it becoming a financial expense to parents or myself is extra special.

As we reach the ladder part of our year we began working on coordinate grids, and volume. We are now able to connect our plotted points using our rulers, and color code our volume length, width and height using the colored pencils, and or crayons. As I observe, I hear my students verbalizing, assisting and illustrating with each other. Its very rewarding for me to visualize the relationships, between the students who have mastered the concept verses those who need a little more help. It is important in my classroom that they all feel accepted, and equal when it comes to having the tools needed to succeed. The donors for this project have allowed that to happen.

On a daily basis with mathematics we utilize our mechanical pencils and the whiteboards, erasers and markers. When I distribute the supplies for their table, they have a sense of feeling adequate, therefore motivating them to learn.

Thank you to all my donors that allowed this project to be funded. We greatly appreciate ALL your donations to our class!

Ps. all of these activities went on prior to our shut down March 13th, due to the Covid-19 virus. I truly miss my students!”

  • Needy Necessities

    Funded May 29, 2019

Within the last four years, Donors choose has been such a blessing to my teaching career. Having the opportunity to create a project that will be funded means the world to teachers like myself. It's an amazing and rewarding feeling when I can provide them with supplies like color coded folders the very 1st week, to keep our subjects organized. It definitely means we're off to a great start!

Right now we are working on place value and to be able to color code using the colored pencils/ crayons you bought for us made it that much easier to explain and have them read numbers in standard form. It takes time for students to get their supplies, and sometimes they don't get any at all. It is important in my classroom that they all feel accepted, and giving them what they need to put a smile on their face and brightens my heart.

The two things they utilize the most are our mechanical pencils and the whiteboards, erasers and markers. In math & science we use these items daily. When I hand out the basket of supplies for their table, they are astonished, and motivated to learn.

Thank you to all my donors that allowed this project to be funded. We greatly appreciate your donations to our class!”

  • "Needy NOT Greedy"

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Donors choose has been such a great resource since my 1st created project a year ago . "Needy Not Greedy" was created in February and was funded very quickly on March 27th. Unfortunately shortly thereafter , I had a tragic injury at work . During this time of my healing I worked closely with my colleagues .

The impact of this project was unique , because my students had to continue to learn without me. Geometry is has always a hard concept for 5th graders . My goal was to get them to see geometric figures as they unfold . The hands on geometric figures along with the fold and learn ,allowed my students to easily visualize ,and understand the creation of each shape. The geometry bingo game was a great reinforcement especially prior to state testing. The other fractions, decimals, percents , multiplication , and division bingo games were all immense support as well as they continued to practice , and made learning fun during my absence. The white boards and erasers assisted with small group learning of math algorithms , and allowed correcting any mistakes with ease . My class respectfully took care ,appreciated and were excited to get colorful pencils , and their individual erasers . In 27 years I never anticipated getting injured at work , but these supplies allowed them to continue to learn while having fun . My students , and I sincerely say," Thank You" , as they are entering the 6th grade and feel confident in knowing their concepts to move ahead.”

  • Block Out Distractions!

    Funded Jun 14, 2017

We are elated and always Thankful for your generous donation!! We can't Thank you enough for sponsoring our "The Block Out Distractions " project. The impact on the class has been phenomenal. All of my students are eager to get started, focused, and on task with their independent Imagine Math lessons! The headphones give each student a feeling of ownership, and readiness. They are passing more pathways ,and lessons, and progressing nicely for the beginning of the school year.

We have so many distractions within a classroom lesson . The phone rings , announcements on the PA. system, differentiating students, stations and more. Having the headphones has allowed students to block out these daily distractions and focus on their learning.

The student's have been extremely motivated, and excited to get started with all our fun lessons and projects on the laptops. Over the past few weeks we've earned certificates on our required intervention websites, with the anticipation of seeing it in print and posted in our classroom.

Your support has repeatedly played a key role in our success.”

  • We Won't Have to Borrow Any More!

    Funded Feb 9, 2017

Thank you for your recent and generous donation. I can't Thank you enough for sponsoring "The Penny Family" projects. The impact on my class has been phenomenal. Although they were considered small items with your help my students now have some of the vital resources needed for our continued success.

The student's have been extremely motivated, and excited to get started with all our fun lessons and projects. Having these supplies has helped with time management, created jobs, responsibility and respect for materials. The greatest lesson learned, with sincerity is to not take things for granted, and appreciate all that is given to them. They collect, store and cherish the markers, whiteboards, and erasers, we use daily. As a result that has turned into new jobs and therefore a new responsibility for some. Over the past few weeks we've earned 42 certificates on our required intervention websites, with the anticipation of seeing it in print and posted in our classroom. Our scissors has allowed us to create foldable to get a better understanding of many concepts.

Your support has repeatedly played a key role in our success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Penny's Classroom

The supplies will assist my students by providing the necessary resources needed to complete daily academic activities that we often take for granted. Large post-it notes & highlighters will be used for cooperative learning strategies and techniques as they post their expressions for critiquing and editing. We will be able to publish our work & certificates from mandatory intervention websites in color using the ink provided. The dry erase boards, expo markers are for quick math checks. Pencils, scissors and colored markers are for foldable projects.
