My students are part of a high population of students with special needs. Many students have difficulty with attention and their minds are constantly focused on trying to get their wiggles out while I am trying to teach a lesson. As a teacher I want to try to help my students every way I possibly can. I have done endless hours of research on flexible seating in the classroom. What I have found is flexible seating increases concentration and retention by over 50 % by using up excess energy, increased motivation and engagement, and creating a better oxygen flow to the brain. Physical activity has been proven to be linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
