  • Work Your Fingers! Yeah yeah! Create Successful Writers!

    Funded Jul 31, 2023

My students have enjoyed modeling with the kinetic sand. They have squeezed and made different items out of the sand as they are working they are talking with their classmates and building oral language skills. They describe it as soft and fun to play with. The boxes that were bought made it easy to give each student their own box of sand to work with. I found it so much easier for them to have their own to work with.

The box of crayons has been a hit as well they are writing stories and the colors are so bright and vivid. They take their box of crayons at center time to color pictures and draw pictures even though they have crayons on the table to share. Having twelve colors is nice because the girls like pink and I like that it has gray included.

The play dough is always a hit with four year olds. They love to get their play dough and cut it with the play dough scissors. They found the scissors to be easy to use and loved that they could cut the play dough. The colors of the play dough were nice and they just love playing with play dough. They have no idea it is strengthening their fingers to help them write and draw.

These materials will be used throughout the year! They love working with play dough and sand and could do it every day. They will have a choice throughout the year to play with the items that were donated.”

  • Prize to Surprise!

    Funded Dec 13, 2022

We placed these new items into our incentive store. Students get to come to the store every nine weeks and they get to trade their earned paw points for these items. As a committee we choose which table to place these items on. The store is used also throughout each nine weeks in the classroom. All students in the school get a chance to visit the store before they go or view the items through a virtual tour done by our guidance counselor. The students enjoy viewing the items so they can make plans on what to purchase. Our students were so excited to see all the new items in the Incentive store.

When my class saw the new craft kits and the transformers they were ready to purchase those with their paw money. The older students also liked the writing tablets and remote control cars. Children were excited to see new items. They planned for next visit and purchased some new materials.

Not all items were taken the first time after they were placed in store, some students choose to save their paws to get the items when they had enough paws. Children will visit the store two more times this year and the new materials will be there for them to choose. Those students who choose to save for a certain item will have the chance to purchase the item the next visit.”

  • Imagine It! Make It!

    Funded Jun 3, 2022

Thank you for your generosity to our classroom. The new resources you provided are now out during center time. The children get to work with the stem building activities. The children are able to work independently or with a friend or two. The children are very creative. Some or following the suggested building ideas and some or making up their own designs.

The children were excited to see the new materials and eager to get to work. They have 15 minutes during each time to work on their designs or build with the materials. Some children are already asking to stay longer with the material. This lets me know that they are having fun learning from the materials and having fun working with friends.

We are working on our family unit. We are discussing who is in our family, what we like to do with our family and how we celebrate with families.

My students are making different items like a vacuum cleaner with the tube building materials, making robots with magnetic blocks and shapes and they find their letters in their name with the letter building blocks and fishing ABC game. Thanks to you my students are engaged in their learning and teaching each other how to make different designs.”

  • Up, Down and Moving!

    Funded Mar 31, 2022

This rug that you provided for my classroom is the most used area in my room. I am so appreciative of the learning opportunities you helped provide my students daily, sometimes hourly. The rug is where learning happens. Each child has a spot on the rug and we do our read alouds together and other math, science, and social skills lessons as well. This is where we dance and sing and move as to learn. My students choose where to do their work (play) and the new carpet was where they want to be. During one morning lesson last spring, I looked out and the students were rubbing their hands across the new rug and some wanted to lie down.

The students loved the new rug. They said it felt soft and comfortable to sit on. They liked the colors and the pictures. They were excited to have a new place to learn and work. They discussed with each other what colors they saw and describing the pictures on the carpet. One student even asked about a picture of something they weren't familiar with seeing. That provided a mini lesson that happened.

My new students will enjoy the new rug as well. They will get the opportunity to learn while spreading out on the rug. They will take new adventures as we read book, as we learn our alphabet and numbers, as we dance to songs. and as we learn to corporate and work together using stem materials. Because of your generosity, my classroom will thrive with learning opportunities. Thank you again for your donation.”

  • A Place To Learn And Grow!

    Funded Feb 13, 2018

I would like to express how grateful I am for your support of my donor's choose project. Without your support my students would not have a clean, comfortable space to learn, listen to stories or dance. Our students are very active and the new rug allows us room to move and space to sit without being in someone's way. We are learning about personal space and this rug allows for each child to have more room.

The children were so excited to see our new rug. They loved the pictures on our new rug. They noticed that there is a book on each space with a letter. They noticed that they have more room to move. They love to build and create new items such as cars, train tracks, trains and put puzzles together. The rug also allows the children to spread out and read books. They are all able to sit and see the educational games when playing as a class.

I didn't realize how much more space this rug would allow the children to have until it came in, and I love that the children all have their own space and can see the books I read. We spend a lot of time on this rug and needed a new one badly. Children learn from moving and singing and this rug allows enough space to move to the letters and dance to counting to 100. As we finish out the year, students will be able to be creative as they work on new ideas to build with our materials. The rug allows space for the children to work on individual items as well as group items. They will be reading books on their own (which is reading pictures at this age). They will be practicing for a spring program and reviewing skills they have learned through playing Promethean board games.

Thanks again for your generous donation to my project and making it possible for our very active group of pre-k students to have a place to learn and grow.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tisdale

I am a pre-school teacher. I teach in a rural community. I have twenty vary active four year olds. My students come from all different social and ethnic backgrounds. I have been teaching for twenty years. I love to instill in them the importance of reading and learning letters. We are learning our letters and the importance of numbers. We need a rug that can hold twenty young students with room to move and room for all students to be able to see the book when read aloud. This rug will be used for building things on, for working on floor puzzles, making different items out of different math manipulatives and provide a soft place for dancing when it rains outside. The rug would provide a quiet place for students to read. It would provide a sound barrier for our room since we don’t have carpet in our room. This rug will provide a place for the teacher to call together a small group of students and read a book during small group time. Our students need a place to sit when people come into read books or share about their career. We need a place to gather when students are asked to read on their own. This rug will serve as a community gathering place. We will make important decisions like how to make our jack-o-lantern, what is our favorite book, what songs to dance to and share our thoughts and feelings about a lot of different topics. The rug will be where we start our morning meeting and learn about birthdays and the days of the week. From learning our letters and numbers, to reading, writing and arithmetic, your donation of a rug will help brighten my students' future and create a place to learn and grow.
