"You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals." - Marie Curie Middle schoolers are a unique set of individuals. Add in a set of unique learning difficulties and the traditional classroom seating can be difficult. Providing unique learning opportunities whenever possible helps my students learn the skills necessary to become independent. Independence is a huge part of our day in my classroom. Whether learning to write our names, open our snacks, or use our words to ask for help, the idea of being our own person is huge. My students desire to do things on their own but lack the ability to truly be independent through the underdeveloped social skills and other needs. Throughout the day, I provide individualized instruction to my students in the areas of literacy, math, science, social studies, and social skills.
