  • Look, I'm an Author!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations. We have been working on their stories for a few weeks and they are going to be fantastic! When their stories are printed out, the students are very excited. Then when their watercolors are added to them, they are very proud. Each student gets to read their stories aloud to the class. Then they take their stories home to read to their families.

Once a student can read their story fluently, they get to go to other classes to read. Soon, our school is having a reading night. Several of the students will be presenting their stories.

The stories are great, but what I love is that they are going into first grade knowing the are authors.”

  • Clean and Safe

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I am so very grateful for your generous donation. I love how clean the carpet is in the class. The parents have even commented on how great the carpet looks. The other teachers figured out my secret and have borrowed it. So now we have the cleanest section of the school. My students like to help with the cleaning too, and I suspect they are making the carpet dirty on purpose just so we can get out the cleaner! But the real reason I am grateful is the peace of mind I have knowing that all surfaces in my class are clean.”

  • Dr. Seuss Starts Student Studying!

    Funded Dec 20, 2021

Thank you so much for providing the materials my students need to be their best learners! I appreciate your support and generosity. The students love learning, and Dr. Suess always makes it fun. The pencils and books helped the students have supplies while we were virtual, and it helped the parents not need to worry about one more thing while they were trying to teach their children while still working and running their households. Hopefully we will stay face-to-face after this, but virtual worked even better with your help. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metoyer

  • Play with Me!

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

I remember playing games with my family when I was growing up. Some of the games I loved are now being played as a family in the homes of my students. It may seem like fun and games, but playing is critical in the development of children. They're learning to follow rules, take turns, be a good sport, and so much more! I appreciate you allowing me to pass out games to each child to help make learning at home happen beyond worksheets, projects, and other assignments. Connect Four, Trouble, and even Yeti In My Spaghetti are continuing a tradition, because you chose to support my classroom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metoyer

  • Own a Book, Be a Reader!

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

Thank you so much for giving my students their own books to take home! I'm excited to be able to share my love of reading with my kindergarten class, and your support has truly been a wonderful help. Not everyone in my classroom comes from a home where there is extra money once bills are paid and food is on the table. A book, unfortunately, is sometimes a luxury item that families cannot afford to purchase. These books you provided have made my students heart full and their love of reading grow! Thank you again for helping change lives through your generosity and DonorsChoose.”

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations! Besides myself, the students are grateful they will be able to hear me during home schooling. The parents are also grateful they do not have to tiptoe around their children during their school time. The childrens' focus dramatically improves when they use headphones.”

My students will use the watercolors and paints and sand to create some of the land-forms and waters that they are learning about. The children will use the sand to create the texture of the land. Then the watercolors will be used to make the oceans, rivers, and lakes. We will make use of aprons to keep their uniforms clean, as many of them only have one uniform. My kindergartners learn not only by listening, but by playing and creating. These materials will allow them to actively learn, play and create. Finally, the students will each have a place to store their masterpieces with their own portfolios.
