The materials I am requesting may not be the "sexiest" of classroom materials- not as flashy as video cameras; nevertheless they are the "bread and butter" of most classrooms. With that said, I would appreciate a file cabinet to securely store AP exams so that I can ensure that no tests leave my classroom. This is important because there are only a limited number of test questions available for the redesigned AP World, and protecting these questions is essential to ensuring students get realistic testing conditions. Next, I hope to use the index cards for the "argument tower project", a creative, engaging approach that helps students understand how arguments and evidence interact with one another. Through this activity, my students will develop skills in order to become prepared for college and their future careers. The overwhelming majority of students are classified Title I (socioeconomically disadvantaged) and many do not have access to reliable Internet or a computer at home. The technology skills that they develop are largely the result of what they learn in classes such as mine. This is why it is extremely important that I get resources such as the requested Chromebooks so that students can be exposed to resources such as Prezi, Google docs, and other apps that allow them to engage with AND to create historical content. Without your donation my students will not be able to have access to these opportunities. The Chromebooks I am requesting will be invaluable learning tools for my classroom community. I would utilize this tech by loading various primary sources such as immigration oral history videos, chapter review videos, famous speeches, and countless other resources. My goal will be to use this resource to create a mobile learning station that students will be able to access during class activities.
