I am requesting fine motor tools and manipulatives for my young students. Children at this age are visual learners and the manipulatives provide visual and tactile learning experiences. The math counters, snap beads, and blocks will provide opportunities to practice their sorting & classifying, counting, patterning, and speaking/listening skills. The Feed-the-Dog help strengthen their fine motor skills and allow for students to demonstrate their understanding of concepts. Also, it is ENGAGING!! In my classroom, hands-on learning is the 'best' way to learn. Everyday students will be able to utilize these tools in order to master the math concepts. The manipulatives are also versatile and will be used later in the year for so much more! Furthermore, the counting pegs and tweezers will help to improve their fine motor skills which are at a critical period. During this critical period students are establishing a strong foundation of their finger & hand muscles (fine motor muscles) which are the building blocks for writing, drawing, and expressing themselves. Our end of the year goal is for students to be able to write their name, letters, and be able to label their stories.
