Fire Museum Trip for Second Graders
Funded Dec 29, 2015Dear Donor,
The trip to the NYC Fire Museum was fantastic! All of the children had an amazing time talking to the firemen while learning life saving tips. They are still talking about the fire simulation room. They were put in a room that filled up with "smoke" and they had to crawl their way to the exit using what they learned from the firemen.
The children also were excited to tell that they had conversations with their parents and came up with a meeting place outside of their home in case they had a fire and had to leave.
This trip was fun and educational and it was all because of your generosity.”

Hands On Learning About Plants!
Funded Aug 10, 2015Yesterday, all the children in the second grade had an amazing experience at the New York Botanical Gardens thanks to your generosity. When they first arrived they were in awe at the size of the greenhouse they were about to enter.
Upon entering the greenhouse, they got to see and learn about different plants, trees, and flowers around the world. They kept saying things like, "It feels like we are in the Rainforest" or "I'm in the desert". It was really nice to see the smiles on their faces.
Next they spent about an hour and a half in a classroom setting learning all about the different plant parts and their functions. They also got to plant their own seed and take home their pots to watch their seed grown into a plant. This experience was wonderful and it couldn't have happened without you. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Please Help Us Make Dr. Seuss's Birthday Special!
Funded Dec 24, 2014Thank you so much for your generous gift. My students absolutely love reading all of the Dr. Seuss books. Some of them are even trying to write their own stories based on what they read.
The Dr. Seuss hats were a huge, huge, hit. Every child from kindergarten through second grade got to wear a hat to celebrate his birthday. All the children were walking around with great big smiles.
The pencils were also a great hit. The children write with them all the time. I also use them as incentives when they write. If they write a great story they will get another pencil. Some children are up to 3 and 4 pencils. Every day they ask if they will be able to earn one that day.
Once again thank you for thinking about my class.”

We Need To Learn About Fire Safety!
Funded Nov 21, 2014Thank you so much for giving our second graders an experience they will never forget. They learned all about fire safety and the dangers that can happen in each room of their homes. They also experienced a fire simulation. They were in a room and it started to fill up with "smoke". The children had to drop to the floor, feel their way on the walls, and crawl on their knees to an exit. That was definitely their favorite part because they are still talking about that experience.
Parents have also spoken to me about the trip. Some of the children went home and made their parents come up with a meeting area, outside of their home, in case of a fire.
Once again thank you so much for giving my students this wonderful experience.”

Ms. Rosenberg
Please Help Bring School Spirit Back To Our School!
Funded Aug 26, 2014My students loved the pink pompoms and breast cancer awareness tattoos. Our Breast Cancer Awareness walk was a huge success and the students were so proud to shake their pompoms around the community.
They also love our Dr. Seus calendar board and look forward to putting each day's date on it.
Your donation has really made a great difference in not only my class, but all of the students in the school. You have helped us raise our school spirit. The kids are looking so forward to being able to color the 100th day of school posters. Each event that we are doing this year is more special because of your generous gift. Just know that you have made an entire school very, very happy!”

Help Second Graders To Get Creative With Crafts!
Funded Sep 12, 2012My students have now completed a few arts and crafts projects. You would be so pleased to see the looks on their faces. They were so happy when they were coloring and gluing their projects. It is also a pleasure to see the children working together and helping each other. They were also giving each other ideas for the different colors that could be used for the turkey's feathers. They wanted each turkey to look original, which was very cute to see.
Without your generous donation, none of these projects would have been made possible. Thank you again for being so caring. You have made a big difference in my student's school experience.”

Funded Nov 11, 2011I want to thank you for your generous donation that enabled my students have a field trip experience which they will never forget. The children were able to see and hold Native American artifacts which they learned and read about in class.
At the museum the students took a virtual interactive tour back in time to experience life as the Native Americans did. They were also able to write and draw pictures about what they experienced.
In the following days after the trip, my students wrote journal entries as if they were part of the Lenape tribe. None of these activities would have been possible without your help. Thank you again.”

Funded May 19, 2011I just want to thank you again for your generous donation of the karaoke machine and the music to go along with it. I wish that you could see the look on my students' faces as they were singing their favorite songs. There was so much excitement in the classroom. I also noticed that some of my students' self esteem improved as they were in front of their classmates talking and singing. They took the time to enunciate each word which made me so happy to see. My students this year already told some of my future students about the karaoke machine. Your gift has really had a great impact on my students.”

Help Us Understand Plant Life!
Funded Dec 11, 2010I just wanted to thank you for your generous donation of science materials. The non-fiction reproducible books have been of such a great asset. They are used during our science period as well as for homework.
My students love the stamp sets about the parts of a plant. They seem to never get tired of using them, and it is great because it keeps reinforcing what they were taught.
An finally, the life cycle charts have been extremely helpful in showing the children a visual which they can follow. They are used frequently during the lessons and are hanging in the science center as a reference that the students can always go to. Without your kindness all of these materials in my classroom wouldn't have been possible.”

Funded Dec 9, 2010Thank you so much for the editing/proofreading books. We have been using them everyday as part of our morning routine. There has been such an improvement in my students' writing when it's time for editing and revising of their work. The children have become more confident and rely less on me when it comes to checking their work before publishing.
Your generous donation is also helping them prepare for the second day of the New York State Test which they will be taking in May. Your gift has had such a positive effect and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. ”
