Math is meant to be moved, felt, tried, experienced, and figured out. My students really need some math manipulatives. For great math thinking, they need great math tools. We are in need of some math manipulatives. Dice, playing cards, counters, fraction tiles, dominoes, clocks, and base ten sets are some of the tools we could use daily in our math workshop. These math manipulatives will be a great way for my students to experience and figure out math! We explore a variety of topics in 3rd grade: Place Value, Rounding, Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing, Fractions, Time, and Geometry. Having some useful and hands-on tools will make all our math lessons become more of an experience rather than an activity. Moving our math can help move our brains. We want to experience math and become skilled math thinkers!
