  • Wonderful Writers

    Funded Oct 11, 2013

As I hauled 2 very large, very heavy boxes on a dolly to my classroom, I had a huge smile on my face! I was so excited that my new "Wonderful Writers" materials had arrived! And so quickly I might add! I hadn't even made room on my shelves yet for my new materials! That didn't stop me though. I tore through those boxes as fast as possible, oooh-ing and ahhhh-ing at all of the WONDERFUL new resources my students had just received!

The next day at school, I quickly showed my students all of the new tools they would be getting to use and how they would help make them love writing even more! All of a sudden, they all LOOOVED writing! They wanted to start writing right then!! I showed them the journals and how they would each have their very own! We went through them together and talked about the parts of the Writers Journal. I have never seen them more anxious to begin writing...I had to hold them back! Next, I showed them the cool new "Writing" games we received. They we not quite sure how we could play a game about writing, but I showed them that writing isn't just pencil to paper...we needed to learn about types, grammar, punctuation rule, editing and revising! Now I had to hold them back from the games!

Currently my students are each using their independent writing journals. They are more eager and willing to try harder to write. Since my students all having learning disabilities, writing is usually a very undesirable task. With out new materials, my students are showing more interest in writing, more willing to write, and are producing better writing compositions. Each student has their journal kept with their writing supplies and with these very cool new journals, the students are in control of what they write about. The pages are colorful, easy to read and very inviting- especially for reluctant writers like my students.

I feel that these resources have already boost my students writing abilities even in this very short amount of time. My students are wanting to impress me with their "writing skills". They want to share their compositions. They are keeping their journals in a neat and safe spot and ask me frequently if today is "writing day!" That is pure music to my ears! If we are not using the interactive journals we received, we are often using the very fun, hands-on writing games we received! Seriously, they are FUN! I get into them just as much as the kids...little do they know how much they are learning about writing with these fun games!

Thank you so much for your donations and making these resources available to my students. It fills my heart to know that these items were given so generously by former VOE students, parents, family members and complete strangers to these students. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Axton

  • Fantastic Phonemic Awareness!

    Funded Nov 8, 2012

What a blessing it is to receive valuable resources from people like you! Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. My students have loved using the new resources you provided us. It allows them to have hands on materials to help improve their reading and writing skills.

I told my students about your kindness and donations and they were amazed that someone who did not know them personally, wanted to help them strive in their education. It has motivated them to want to help others the way you have so kindly helped our classroom needs. They ask me all the time if they can write more thank you letters! I hope this instills a feeling of gratitude in them and motivates them to think of others the way you have thought about children and their education. These materials have impacted their learning in more ways than one! They are so excited to use them, have gained new knowledge about the content, and pride themselves when they are successful. They also take extra-special care of our "donated" gifts and make sure all the pieces are put back together so nicely! (This is HUGE for 6 year old's!)

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

  • Teaching Technology!

    Funded Apr 22, 2010

This is a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation. The computer games that you have sent have helped and encouraged my students every day! We use them daily, and the children are literally begging to have the chance to play. It brings such joy to me to know that wonderful people like you have encouraged my students to learn more.

My class is so diverse, but every single child uses and loves the new computer games.

Thank you for your gratitude. Thank you for making a difference in the lives and education of my student's”

  • Let The Games Begin!

    Funded Dec 10, 2009

I can not express enough how much my students have enjoyed our new classroom board games. Each and every day, the students are so eager to work with each other and play one of our games. The games have also taught them so many new concepts and have helped reinforce learning concepts we have previously learned. One of the games you donated was made to help teach students commonly seen sight words in books. This game has not only been a class favorite, it has truly helped my struggling readers recognize these words and make reading more enjoyable and easier!

Without your donations, these students would not have had the chance to learn new skills such as team work, compromising, reading skills and much more! Thank you for your donations. From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Axton
