We have built an exciting and fundamentally transforming culture at our school. We have been teaching our student-athletes The Bulldog Way - which denies sefishness, promotes selflessness, promotes and holds accountable effort, and creates servant-leaders on and off the field of play. Myself and my wife, both former collegiate athletes, are the basketball coaches for our schools.
We have recently taken over the program and have instituted The Bulldog Way, which is the focus of our culture. We have literally changed the lives in the players that we have, self-esteem and work ethic have sky rocketed in our program. We have had multiple parents thank us for helping transform their daughters. We always have the same response, "They did it themselves, we just helped guide them there."
Our project not only helps our girls basketball team, but also the other sports programs by providing supplies to help with conditioning and training. However, we will be using this equipment on a daily basis but will definitely let other programs borrow. For example, the state of Kentucky recently changed the basketballs we must use from Rawlings brand to Spalding brand, so we are drastically needing the new basketballs for our games (we must use that specific brand). We have also asked for other equipment to help us with games; Slipp Nott pad with replacements, elastic bands for pre and post game stretching, and bags to help us transport all our equipment from location to location.
We are also requesting prowler sleds, speed ropes, and elastic therapy bands to not only use for our team, but to also share with other athletic teams. This exercise equipment will not only allow us to build stamina to compete with local schools, but it also helps us build confidence.
