Can't Get Enough Books!
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for the incredible selection of books you have donated to my class library. It was such a wonderful gift to receive! My classroom needed updated titles and these did not disappoint. My students have enjoyed checking out the novels to read during our independent reading and I can see they are truly engaged. Having a diverse selection of texts ensures there is a perfect read waiting for every student to enjoy. Your kindness and generosity is appreciated and will be well-loved for years to come.”

Funded Jul 8, 2022I cannot tell you enough what a wonderful addition the button maker has been to my class. My students were intrigued when I first introduced it but when they made a button, they absolutely loved it. It is so neat that students are able to make a design and then wear their original art!
For my class I have used this machine for two events so far. First, we had a STEM night and students and families came to our school to learn about collaboration and engineering in a creative way. We used the button makers as an example workshop. I also use the machine as an incentive when a student finishes an independent novel. They are able to create artwork to showcase their novel and then create a button to wear and advertise the book. It has been so much fun and an unique way to prove understanding in my ELA class.
Thank you again for your generosity. Your support brings so much joy to my classroom,

Funded Feb 20, 2022I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful collection of books you have gifted to my class. My students were so thrilled to receive these new titles and I had to create a new check-out system to satisfy all their needs. It has been so wonderful to see my students want to read and be excited about the variety. My students are eating up all the new novels, especially the graphic and manga ones. They are already giving me titles of more books they would like to read! Your generosity is aiding in my students become life-long readers. Thank you!”

Funded Dec 14, 2021Thank you so much for donating these incredible supplies to my classroom. While they may not seem too exciting, these items help bring positivity to my room every day. On most days I have students from every class comment, "Your room smells so good!" The air fresheners make such a difference in a middle school setting. When a mess does happen, we have a dustpan and magic erasers that are able to clean up any situation. The baskets make for easy organization and the students love when they can use the 'special' pens as a reward.
It is truly the little things that make all the difference and once again, I thank you.”

Senior Citizen and Student Pen Pals!
Funded Oct 28, 2021This was such a fun and unique project for my 8th grade students to experience. I began with creating a small club with this idea in mind. Thankfully to you, I was able to put it in action. I reached out to a few senior centers in my neighborhood until I finally found one that was interested and would commit to the pen pal project. In December my students began by writing their first card. While awaiting the reply from the seniors, we then created small Christmas ornaments to brighten up the holidays for our pen pals.
The best part of the project so far was when my students finally received a response. They were so surprised someone wrote back to them (even thought that was the whole idea) and were deeply touched by the contents in each letter. My students hurriedly wrote back once again.
We are now in the process of making the blankets. My students are enjoying choosing colors for their new pals and measuring and creating. I hope to be done with the blankets in the next week so they can be dropped off.”

Basic Hygiene Products
Funded Nov 29, 2021Thank you for this donation. While these simple items may not seem like much, they are so important to my 8th grade students. I am known as 'that teacher' with the maxi pads, band aids, etc. I keep a drawer in the back of my classroom where students can access these products on their own. I cannot tell you how many times I have a line of girls coming to see me before lunch or after school. The fact that some of these young ladies do not have access to simple hygiene products breaks my heart. I am overwhelmed with the generosity this company has shown to my students. You unselfish donation matters so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Magna Mania
Funded Sep 18, 2021Thank you for the collection of manga titles. I cannot tell you how excited my students were to receive these. At first I simply put them on my shelf and my students could not contain the excitement so I now have a waiting list (pictures attached). While the books should still be in excellent condition based on how new they are, I am thrilled they are already showing signs of wear. These magna books have created interest in reading in my classroom, especially for my reluctant readers. I begin my ELA class with daily silent reading and many times I see students sharing these stories and asking me where they are on the wait list. I am so thankful for you and this donation that inspires engagement in not only reading but other cultures as well.”

Funded Dec 23, 2020Thank you so much for your donation. First, having a cart to move around has made my life so much easier. It is wonderful to have all my items with me as I move from room-to-room in my building. Additionally, the extra masks and cleaners are exactly what my students need to see in my room to feel safe. There is no need to worry if their mask breaks or gets dirty when we have an extra supply on hand. A basket keeps everything organized and sterile.
Being back in person has been so strange and different. The donation goes a long way in making both me and my students feel important and stable during these times.
All the best,
Sara Dombrowski”

Books= Virtual Hugs
Funded May 20, 2020Thank you for funding this project for me and my students. During remote learning, I had my student make wish list of suggestions for my class library. I asked them to consider the books I already had and what they enjoy/would buy for themselves, to create a dream library for my classroom for my incoming students. My students wasted no time creating books they would love to read. What they did not know is this donation and wish list was for them.
I was able to surprise all my students when they came to school to pick up their personal possessions they left at school. I had so many email me immediately thanking me and expressing how excited they were to dive into this new novel of theirs. Each novel was hand selected for them and I could tell how much they appreciated the gesture. Thank you, again, for not only bringing smiles to my students' faces during a difficult time, but also encouraging a love of reading outside of the classroom.”

Funded Nov 27, 2019I cannot thank you enough for your donation. I am constantly blown away by the generosity my students and I have experienced from Donor's Choose.
I used the resources received to give my students their own writing journal and pens. The journals, with their colors and design, seem to be more special than a regular notebook. Students were able to select which journal and writing utensils they wanted; they were able to pick tools which suited them best. My students were surprised when I pulled out the new supplies and seemed genuinely appreciative. It was an expected surprise in class that day. I believe whenever kindness is shown to them it means a lot, even if they do not always verbalize it.
My students recently finished a poetry unit and many have continued to write even though we have moved on to another topic. They have their journals to now write whatever and whenever they please.
Writing can be a powerful tool for people, young or old, to express themselves. I encourage my students to continue to find their voices through their writing.
Thank you again.”

Ms. Dombrowski
