  • Finding Our Voices: Audio Tools for English Language Learners

    Thank you so much! Your generous donation will help my students learn to speak and understand English. As any new language learner can attest, learning to speak a new language can be daunting. The anxiety caused by the desire to pronounce each word perfectly while using the appropriate grammar can prevent many students from taking the risks needed to learn. Your donation will provide the audio tools students need to record and listen to themselves speaking English. This will help lower students' anxieties while giving them the immediate feedback they need to learn to speak English confidently. Thank you for giving and supporting a wonderful group of students!”

This project will be used to support my students as they create digital installations that explore their identities. For this project, students will make of a photo essay that captures the various aspects of their identity with a voice over that describes how the photos relate to their identity. Headphones with a microphone are essential to make a high quality instillation as students need them to create and revise their voiceovers. Moreover, these headphones will be used throughout the year as we focus on media making to explore US History while learning English. This project will empower my students to hear their voices as they learn English! Too often, my students struggle to find their confidence when they find themselves in environments with native English speakers because they are self-conscious about their accents. These tools can make a real difference in empowering my students to speak and communicate confidently!
