  • Building Understanding by Creating Models: Sustainable Ecosystems

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

I am so thrilled to have my project funded so quickly! Your amazing generosity will ensure that all students are able to participate in our unit on Endangered Species! I cannot wait to see thee look on my students' faces when they realize they will have so much choice in their creating their models! Thanks for helping to bring their imaginations to life!”

  • Emotional Empowerment Zone

    Funded Nov 14, 2024

I can't thank you enough for your generosity in helping me to create an emotional empowerment zone for my students. I have set up a corner of the classroom where students can go if they feeling out of sorts. There is a chart asking what's the weather like inside of you? The visuals of the chart help students to articulate how they are feeling. Some students will choose to write about there feelings, some need to take a walk or talk about it, others will bounce a ball. Many students will grab a fidget or sensory object that they can take to their seat.

Having the empowerment zone enables students to identify their emotions. Putting a name to how you are feeling is the first step to taking control of your emotions. Then giving student's the agency to choose different ways to calm themselves helps them to grow and mature.

In addition, the empowerment zone allows students to get back to the business of school. It is difficult to learn, if you are feeling anxious, tense, afraid or angry. But having the tools to self regulate allows students to engage in science more fully. Everyday there are students who take advantage of this resource.

Thank you so much for your generosity in creating the empowerment zone!”

  • Adopt an Element Project

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for contributing to our Adopt and Element Project. Students were able to learn about the PToE as well create a sense of community by contributing to a community bulletin board.

Students enjoyed learning about their element and took great pride in creating their square towards our common goal. It has livened up the 6th grade hallway, and has given students the opportunity to give one another feedback.

One unexpected plus from this project was to see how upperclass students connected with our 6th graders, creating more of a sense of community! Our high school students loved commenting on which element was theirs when they were in 6th grade, creating a bond between students across the grades!

Thank you once again for your generosity.”

  • Cheer Re-brand

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

In a momentous achievement, the CSS Cheerleading Team secured a remarkable 2nd place win at their debut USA/UCA Cheer Competition sponsored by the National Cheer Association. Before the pandemic, the team only competed at state and regional levels. The competition also marked a historic milestone for our school as the team proudly sported their entirely new uniforms!

The support for these uniforms means the world to the team and changed the entire presentation of their routine! The students proudly performed more proudly sporting the school design. The fit of the uniforms also emphasized their motions making them more crisp.”

  • Indoor Soccer

    Funded Feb 5, 2022

There are not enough words to express our thanks for giving us this opportunity to develop our soccer skills! The pandemic was incredibly hard and when we were finally able to play in our district, we lost our coach. With all the hardship, this was the best present our team could have asked for. We had so much fun, got to hone our skills, and most importantly got to build our team back up from so much loss these past few years. We became a closer team and were able to come back with huge wins! With this team, we had to compete against each other as we knocked out all our other opponents! We look forward to continuing with this program and come back next year with a ROAR!”

  • PRIDE Lion Mascot!

    Funded Nov 16, 2021

Thank you so much for helping us obtain our pride lion mascot! This project has been years in the making and we are so excited to see it come to life! The mascot will be used both within and outside the community. As we travel for games and events, we will bring our pride lion where we go as a symbol of our school and the pride we have for it. Within the community, it will serve as a reminder of the values and culture we want our students to embody and promote as they travel through their educational careers at our school and beyond. Thank you so much for making this possible!”

  • Learning From and Using Data

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much for the support to run this survey. Data is such an important tool that gives us insight into what we are doing well and what we could improve upon. Our school is working to improve our policies in treating everyone more fairly and this survey will allow us to better make decisions around those policies. Additionally, this survey will give us insight in what supports our school needs to invest in to better support all our learners. The survey is also a way to find out more about our students. In order to be better educators, we need to understand the student as a whole and this survey will allow us to collect that information to better know our learners. Many thanks!”

  • An Education on Celebrating Differences

    Funded May 5, 2021

Thank you so much for our amazing desks that go up and down. From the moment we got them, they helped so many of our students who struggle to learn in the traditional modality. When my co-teachers and I work with students individually or in small groups, the adjustability helps them focus better and not have to worry about either stretching and/or straining to see how a problem can be worked out and doesn't cause an older student (who tends to be taller) back difficulty as they use to have to bend down. The desks have also benefited students who struggle to pay attention during long lectures. By giving them the standing option, they are less likely to get too comfortable where it distracts their learning. They are so wonderful and it wouldn't have been possible without all your help! Many thanks!”

  • Meeting the Needs of My Learners

    Funded Apr 11, 2021

Thank you so much for the donation of the table! We are so excited for it! As we are doing hybrid learning, our students have had difficulty sitting for long periods of the day in front of a screen. When they finally get to move, they are overtly excited that sometimes they overextend themselves. With this new table, the students will be able to continuously adjust so that their transitions are not so sudden. In addition by having various height options they can be more comfortable in their learning as they are growing children! This in tern, allows them to help accumulate more knowledge and be focused on the learning! MANY THANKS!”

  • Translating From English to Spanish

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for the translators! We have gotten a lot of use out of them, especially during this challenging time. Many of our families are Spanish speaking and need assistance navigating at home learning. With the translating devices, we have used them to help "speak" to families and give them guidance around school work help and general updates as to what needs to be done to help their student succeed. They have also assisted in giving updates to families where telecommunication is best rather than email. These devices will come in handy when we return to normal school as well as they can be used during events like parent teacher conferences!”

My students need Chromebooks for online research, laboratory and presentation creation, and extended classroom activities. These Chromebooks will give my students the opportunity to use online programs that will simultaneously teach them about science while having fun. They will also provide students access to databases with scientific papers and first-hand research in order to aid their studies and research. In my class, students conduct several long-term science investigations throughout the year (Determining the Best Soil to Grow Lima Beans (chemistry), Looking at the Effect of Soda on Chicken Bones (chemistry); Designing the optimal Straw Rocket (physics). When conducting these experiments, students must design and carry out these experiments. With the Chromebooks, students will be able to do in-depth research in order to design optimal environments, create effective protocols, and work collaboratively, like scientists. Furthermore, once these projects are completed, the students will create research presentations that will be used to share with our school community and represented at local and national exhibitions. These presentations can be enhanced with Chromebooks by giving them access to a plethora of resources. In addition to the science, these chromebooks will give the students the computer skills to help them be successful in highschool, college, and eventually the job market. Being able to operate programs like Microsoft word, excel, power point, google docs, etc. will increase their ability to be successful. As you can see, our classroom is not yet up to par technologically, but with this grant, we will get closer to closing that gap!
