  • Boosting Comprehension

    Funded May 21, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations! I can not wait to use the containers to store different materials and manipulatives for my students to use during small group time. This containers are perfect because they allow students to see what is inside them without being visually disruptive.

I can not wait to use the Lakeshore Comprehension Small Group set. This will help at the beginning of the year to get my high students accustomed to the small group set up while reading texts that are on level. Towards the middle to the end of the year, this will be perfect for my students who are reading more on grade level.

The Lakeshore subject (science and social studies) readers are the perfect way to integrate science and social studies into guided reading! My students always find these interesting, and make great connections!

Thank you again for your donations to help make my classroom successful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lander

  • Comfort Is Key

    Funded Nov 26, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations! These new resources are being used as additions to our flexible seating options. My students cheered when they first saw the boxes, and realized it was new additions for our room. They have loved trying out the new seating, and they have quickly become favorite spots in the room. The storage bench, floor seats, and wobble cushions allow for my students to focus and be comfortable while working throughout the day! We have LOVED our new flexible seating options. Thank you so much again!”

  • Flexible Seating and Reading in Our Room

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom! These items were enjoyed by my students at the end of the year and will be enjoyed by future classes. Flexible seating has helped them be more successful. I think the addition of the literacy materials will help them be more independent. My students will be able to build their fluency and public speaking skill, by using the reader theater scripts. My students are more engaged when we are playing games to practice concepts, and I love that the Lakeshore games come with self-check cards! They will love practicing grammar, writing, and context clues through these games. The timer will provide a good visual for students on how much time they have left in their Daily 5 round. The close reading clips and opinion writing set will be great for practicing in small strategy groups.”

  • Flexible Reading and Writing

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom! These items were enjoyed by my students at the end of the year and will be enjoyed by future classes. My students have LOVED having a couch as a flexible seating option. Additionally, through this project we added two more wobble stools to our seating options. These seats help students be more comfortable, confident, and focused! The Ready to Write! Prompt box is perfect for helping my third graders who are stuck on what to write about. The vocabulary practice cards take just the right amount of time to improve our vocabulary every day. Thank you again for helping make my classroom more successful!”

  • Rooted in Reading

    Funded Aug 14, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students have loved reading these diverse books. Every week we focus on one book and we focus on reading and grammar skills that can be found within the books. The texts are so rich that my students have discovered picture books are not easy books! When I read these books my students are completely focused because the stories are so compelling. We have discovered a variety of genres and characters in these books. It has been great for my students to be able to see themselves in these diverse characters. Thank you for helping my classroom and students be successful!”

  • Flexible Seating in Room 207

    Funded Jan 18, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations! We use our flexible seating every day! The students were do excited the first day when the boxes arrived and I described what we were going to be doing for the rest of the school year. Since this project we have added more flexible seating options to our classroom, and the options continue to expand! My students love having this ownership in the classroom and choice of where they sit. This works perfectly in my classroom with the use of Daily 5 and Daily 3 Math. The power of choice is extremely powerful for my kiddos! Thank you so much again for you donations and making this possible in my classroom!”

My classroom is transitioning to becoming a flexible seating classroom. Research shows that this helps provide the most successful environment for kids. Active 7 and 8- year- olds need time for movement throughout the day, and this seating will allow for that to occur. These materials will allow my students to have just the right amount of movement, while allowing them to concentrate on their work. My students need the clipboards, lap desks, and balance balls to help implement flexible seating in our classroom. This will be a great addition to our raised standing tables and lowered table. Flexible seating options is something that I have researched and am excited about implementing in my classroom. My students are just as excited!
