  • VersaTiles Math Classroom Kit for Hands-on Learning and Discovery

    Funded Sep 1, 2021

Thank you for your generous and thoughtful donations towards the VersaTiles® Math Classroom Kits for both our fourth and seventh grade students. The students truly enjoy using the kits because it provides an opportunity for them to get hands-on math skills practice with a self-checking answer system. Our students are using these resources during independent practice and in small groups during our differentiated math rotations. During these rotations, the teacher can determine which students are still struggling with previously taught grade level math content. Additionally, the self-checking component allows students to safely check their work and thinking. It is refreshing to observe them as they persevere until they obtain the correct answer, thereby building their self-confidence.”

  • Basic Classroom Supplies for the 2021-2022 School Year

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

There was much excitement in the room when the students opened the boxes and saw these classroom supplies. We are so thankful for the earphones, pencils, erasers, dry erase markers and sheet protectors.

The pencil and erasers are always an ongoing supply issue throughout the school year so it was a relief to receive this boost at the start of the school year. The pencil sharpener was distributed to the kindergarten classroom. The earphones were distributed to our fifth grade students so they can complete their online STEM assignments. Our second through seventh grade students use the sheet protectors, dry erase markers and erasers to complete practice worksheets. Students also use the sheet protectors to house their data trackers. Lastly, the surge protectors are used by the teachers to charge their laptop carts or by students to charge their personal laptops.

Thanks again for these much-needed resources. Our young scholars were ready, at the start of the school year, to complete their math assignments upon arrival.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crumpler

  • Promoting a Safe and Healthy Classroom Environment

    Funded Oct 14, 2021

Thank you for providing a safe and healthy classroom environment for our kindergarten math/science class. The air purifer is enhancing the classroom by providing clean, pure air. We have fewer absences and the students are not coughing and sneezing in the classroom. We strive for our scholars to attend school on a daily basis and this resource contributes to us maintaining this goal.

The Goldfish crackers and Welch fruit snacks are important nutritional items for our young scholars as well. It keeps them focused on the lesson and not their little tummies.”

  • Classroom and Online Supplies

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations. The students were so excited to open the boxes and see the wonderful items that were donated for their use. The earphones were given out to our sixth grade students so they can complete their online math assignments. The second and third grade common core math workbooks are helping our students gain a strong math foundation.

Students use the dry erase markers with wipe boards to demonstrate their math fact fluency. Additionally, the pencil pouches allow students to store their earphones, dry erase markers, and pencils for easy use.

We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to use these resources on a daily basis. Thanks again for your generosity.”

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thanks so much for your generosity. This project provided much need technology for my school during this unprecedented time of online learning due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Pen were used during class to teach via Promethean's ActivInspire software. Additionally, students were assigned online interactive formative assessments like Kahoot and Quizizz. Additionally, the teacher uses the Surface Pro to connect via Microsoft Teams with our online students. The web camera is flexible and allowed the teacher and students to present their completed projects to all of their classmates via Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Thanks, again for your generous donation.”

  • Laptops to Close the Digital Divide

    Funded Jan 8, 2021

I wholeheartedly thank you from the bottom of my heart for funding my largest Donors Choose project to date. This project provided nine laptops to our students. The laptops were given to six students who did not have laptops. The remaining laptops are checked out daily by students who are having issues with their school issued laptops. Students use the laptops in the classroom and at home to complete their online STEM and reading assignments.

The Microsoft Surface Pro is being used during class to assign online interactive formative assessments like Kahoot and Quizizz. Additionally, the teacher uses the Surface Pro to connect via Zoom for online collaborative planning sessions.

The writing tablets were distributed to four math/science teachers for use during teaching. The writing tablets allows the teacher to easily work out math problems. The surge protectors are being used by students to charge their laptops during class. Also, students use the earbuds to complete online math and reading assignments. Lastly, the USB adapters allow students to connect their headphones via a USB when the audio jacks are not functioning properly.

Thanks, again for your generous donation.”

  • STEM for Student Learning

    Funded Oct 16, 2020

Thank you so much for funding my STEM for Student Learning project. The laptops were given to three students who did not have laptops. They are are fully utilizing these laptops in the classroom and at home to complete their online STEM and reading assignments.

The students use the computers to connect via Zoom with their teachers. They also are able to complete assignments posted in Microsoft Teams, Edgenuity, i-Ready and Science Gizmos. In addition, the students utilized the laptops to conduct STEM research-based projects on famous women in STEM field.

The fans are used to cool off classrooms (and the main office) when our air conditioning breaks down in the hot Miami and muggy weather. The books are shared among 3rd-5th grade classes. The STEM experiments are aligned to grade-level content and allow hands-on exploration of engaging science topics.”

  • Online Math Resources Created by Experienced Math Teachers

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

I am so thankful for the donated resources. We are currently using these resources with our both our online and physical students during math instruction. Through Teachers Pay Teachers, we purchased anchor charts and multiplication facts worksheets for students in grades kindergarten to 5th grade. We use the anchor charts to review key concepts with our students. For our sixth graders, we use the Florida math standards review packets to get them ready of the state's annual math exam. The writing tablet is so helpful when I am explicitly teaching and showing students how to solve math problems.

The Covid pandemic has created a very challenging school year, since half of our students are learning from home. Using ready-made math resources that were created by other math teachers, saves time during planning. Our students have benefited tremendously. Thanks again and we are forever grateful to you for your kindness and support.”

As the math coach at my school, one of my roles is to ensure that our classes provide a mathematically rich environment. One of the top priorities for this school year is to differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of all of our scholars. In the mathematics classrooms at our school, students will rotate through differentiated math stations as they seek to master the common core math curriculum. The math stations will consist of a technology center, a math games center, a teacher led center to provide small group assistance will the most challenging content, and a fluency/enrichment center. To assist with rotating through the stations, the timers will cue students to move to the next station. The laminating machine will enable teachers to label the different stations and materials storage unit. Students will also use the laminating machine for their collaborative projects. Our students also need to develop their interpersonal and higher-order thinking skills. The math games will enable each of our math classes to create a math games station to promote higher order thinking while mastering the math curriculum. All of these resources will help close the gap by providing hands-on learning opportunities.
