Imagine being a 4 year old child in a class of 19 other children. Up to this point in your life, you have been home with family and for the most part been the center of attention. When mom reads you a book you don't have to fight to see the pictures or when she colors with you, you don't have to struggle to see what she is telling you to do. Now imagine you are in a brand new school setting where you have to sit on your carpet spot and listen to your teacher read from afar and look at the pictures that are hard to see. You have to focus from a distance to see the paper your teacher is wanting you to color in a certain way. These are all things that are very hard for a 4 year old to do. When they can't see or understand something, they become disengaged in the learning process. With your help in purchasing these ELMOs we will be able to increase engagement by projecting books we are reading onto the smart board for the entire class to easily see. We will also be able to project all learning activities from handwriting practice, counting manipulatives, or even a fossil. The benefits of this technology are immeasurable. Along with being able to simply project things to make them bigger and easier to see, the students will also be able to interact with the objects through the smart board screen. They can practice handwriting, they can count the objects they see, play search and find letters or numbers. The more engaged we can make our students, the more learning they will do.
