  • Tech to Teach

    Funded Jun 22, 2021

Thank you does not even begin to express our gratitude. We are beyond grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness. The computer and adapter will go a long way to making our modern classroom lessons better than ever to reach all learners and all types of students whether in person or remote. Thank you again. You're the best.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hansen

  • Moving To Fully Remote (Again).

    Funded Dec 17, 2020

It's been a crazy school year thus far, to say the least; pivot and pivot again!

We started in the building in September, then we went fully remote in November, and fingers crossed some of us will be back in person soon (the final pivot). Transitioning from fully remote, to hybrid learning and then back to remote was a challenge to set up a fully workable "virtual classroom" for both blended and remote students. However, thanks to y'all we were able to and students can no longer complain about audio issues, visual issues, and I can sit and stand up with the moveable computer stand so I am no longer stationary!

Thank you so much for making our virtual classroom a reality and for helping to make remote learning a success!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hansen

  • Add Color to Our Lives

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

We cannot thank you enough. Your generosity has gifted us the opportunity to send students home with art supplies so the creativity never stopped. It was challenging to close down the building in November and not know when we could get our kids back in or how they would access art supplies, and your donation made it possible to get them supplies even though the physical school buildings and art rooms were closed.

Students were able to come to the school building at 10 minutes scheduled appointments and safely pick up the materials you graciously donated. You should see what they have created! Beautiful works of art which they are currently getting ready to display in our upcoming Virtual Exhibition.

Thank you again. It means the world to us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hansen

  • Motivation Station: No Hangry Child Left Behind

    Funded Sep 21, 2017

Full tummies, happy hearts, good behavior, and eager minds. This is how I would describe the impact your donations had on my students. I can't thank you enough for this positive outcome.

The fact that y students having drinks and snacks to support them throughout the day means they no longer use the excuse of, " I am hungry" to avert working. As a result, I have seen an increase in their productivity and in their overall grades.

Additionally, they are eager to earn points to cash in on Fridays at the school store, which your donations helped build. As a result, their behaviors have improved, so much so, that we no longer have to give negative points system. We only give positive points, shifting completely to a Positive Reinforcement Model and leaving behind the dark ages when students were only given demerits.

We can't thank you enough for all the warm hearts, fully bellies, loads or learning, and well behaved middle schoolers you have helped foster.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hansen

  • LitSquad Needs A Nook

    Funded Sep 13, 2017

There is no other way to say this then... the LitNook is LIT!

The students love it and are constantly begging me to curl up in the reading area to relax, read, and lose themselves for a little. It is a wonderful reward for them at the end of the day or once they have finished their work, and it is true reward for me as well to see them wanting to read.

It's always a wonderful surprise when I walk into my classroom and see students hanging out with books and friends discussing a variety of topics; mainly books, school, and life (and the latest 8th-grade dating drama, lets' be real #middleschool). My students now have a warm and welcoming place to read and hang-out, which is all thanks to you and your generosity. My students and I are so thankful and look forward to heaps of reading and literacy growth.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hansen

My students come from various walks of life, all which have led them and their families to the great urban metropolis of New York City, District 6, to pursue their American Dream. District 6 is the largest district in the City with students for whom English is a New Language (ENL). Our school is over forty-five percent ENL and about eighty-five percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students come to school and to class each and every day, even on Saturdays, with a vigor to learn and a desire for success. My students have diverse educational, emotional, and social needs and as their teacher, I feel it is my responsibility to teach and afford them as many opportunities as possible.
