How can I create a lesson that was student-centered, utilized technology and collaboration, all the while building a bridge between the abstract mathematical concepts and a real life scenario? By implementing PBLs into our curriculum, learners are given the opportunity to determine solutions to real world problems. Dissecting the standards and focusing on the verbiage focused me as the educator and helped to create the driving question for our PBL: “Based on our goal setting conferences, how can we create a savings plans that supports STEM focused higher education, yielding a 21st century career?” During the spring of 2017, our learners will be given the opportunity to explore STEM careers, research collegiate opportunities and determining solutions on how to alleviate personal debt while pursuing these college & career opportunities.
