  • Reading is Fun in STEM!

    Thank you for the many items that you have allowed the students in my classes the opportunity to use. We are all greatly appreciative of your donations.

    With your donations we are able to continue working with researching possible careers within those perimeters, creating a person that does that job and then presenting those to other classes. My students continue to love this!

    Students in our area don't always have all the resources that they need to be successful. I am hopeful that my classroom will give them some of those things to make them understand that READING is fun and it goes hand-in-hand with science, technology and math!

We are able to travel not only around our classroom to "hunt" but around the school for different ideas when completing our research. Several students that have trouble communicating verbally tend to gravitate towards the iPads. They are able to use the speech to txt option which is highly effective for them.

When I work, I want to be comfortable and sometimes it is not at a desk. The new furniture (bike pedals, balance ball chairs, lap desks, wobble boards) will provide the students with a different option besides a hard chair. Many students also have attention problems, being able to move and change seating can eliminate the behavior issues that may arise. They can pull the chairs together as they are reading and discussing. Again, students spend so much time in the classroom and they need to be comfortable. That may be having a chair that allows them to move, a classroom that they can collaborate, and even a spot where they can work in piece. These students are learning that a classroom is not just within the four walls of a classroom. It doesn't have to be a place that is orderly and uncomfortable. Help these students get a chance for change.
