I am teaching students with special needs in two different settings: as a pull out and inclusion. I want every single student in my class to feel capable of improving and attaining a goal appropriate for them. Practice makes perfect! My students would love to be able to enhance their learning experience and grow as individuals. To help my students, I am part of the after school “Math Club” and academic after school classes for Math and Reading. In order for my students to experience that feeling of success, pride, and self-acceptance, my goal is to provide them with additional time, technology-access, and one-on-one assistance. By having Chromebooks accessible in class and after school, students would be able to pinpoint areas of needs or weaknesses specific to them and use online resources to build reading and mathematical fluency. Online resources allow students to access specific skill sets that can be modeled for them and presented in multiple ways that tap into their specific way of learning. Students with special needs face the pressure of reaching goals in all the academic areas. They benefit from individual attention, different supports and resources. It would be great to be able to provide them with this additional support.
