Learning Area Reading Fun
Funded Oct 18, 2018The early reading materials that you helped to provide for my class were received with much excitement! When the box arrived we sat in a circle and opened each activity one at a time. They were so excited to try out the new activities.
My students have different learning needs and styles. I am able to use these activities to differentiate their reading experiences to meet all of these needs. They are learning to read CVC words and simple sentences. These materials are helping me to provide my students with the practice they need to become confident readers.
The activities that you provided are helping me to make reading fun in my classroom! Thank you from Mrs. O'Donnell's kindergarten class!!”

Reading Into the New Year
Funded Feb 27, 2018We are so grateful for the materials that you have helped to fund. Literacy in the kindergarten classroom is so important as we are beginning our road to reading. This time of year is especially exciting as the students are gaining confidence in blending the letter sounds that they have learned to make words. The excitement is incredible!
The materials you have provided for our classroom have been very effective in providing engaging and rigorous learning areas. The sight word sentence builder helps the students build sentences with the sight words they are learning along with picture cards and punctuation. The word sliders are helping the students to recognize word families and use this strategy in reading new words. The individual magnetic boards allow us to form CVC words independently. In addition, each student has their own magnetic board and magnetic letters which allows them to work independently and it provides me with another tool to assess their progress.
We would not have these varied opportunities to encourage reading were it not for your generosity and support.”

Mrs. O'Donnell
Fun With Phonics
Funded Dec 4, 2017We received our package right after we returned from our winter break. The children were so excited! They know that some very special people care about helping them to grow as learners and to help make learning fun! We are all so grateful that you helped to get this project funded!
The items we received focus on phonics, which is an integral part of kindergarten learning. The Beginning Sounds Phonemic Awareness Box is a fun and engaging activity to help my students practice what they know about letter sounds. This activity can be used in small, teacher-led groups or in learning areas. The other phonemic awareness products allow the students to interact with letter and letter sounds. This consistent practice is necessary at this age and will help my little ones become confident readers. The word family wheels have been a favorite activity that the students can do on their own in a learning area. They are so proud when they can read the words and see the matching picture.
All of these learning materials are allowing me to help my 20 kindergartners become readers! WE thank you so much!!”

Early Addition in Action!
Funded Dec 3, 2017The project you helped to fund has been appreciated by each of my students. I wish everyone who supports my kindergarten classroom could see their smiling, excited faces as they open the big box that is delivered just for them.
Math Learning Areas are an important part of our daily routine. The products that you have provided have been useful in creating engaging and rigorous areas that the students can use independently. I am able to differentiate each area by adding paper and pencil activities. The Magnetic Board is a great way for the children to practice their math skills. The magnetic action of the board is fun for the children while also being self-correcting. The Flip and Solve Board allows the children to be active in their leaning. I am using the Word Problem Center to challenge my more advanced learners. They can make up their own word problems and write matching number sentences. My goal is to help my students love learning. These activities are helping in this endeavor.
Our Learning Areas are much more fun and educational (don't tell my students), thanks to you!”

Areas in Action!
Funded Oct 3, 2017My students find out that new materials are coming right after funding is complete. The principal announces it to the school and then we patiently wait. They know that brand new items for fun and learning will be coming in the next few weeks. Then the day comes for us to open a large package addressed to just my class! Their faces are something to see.
The activities that were donated have given my students the opportunity to learn while having fun. The word building activity has encouraged them to use what they have learned about letter sounds to form words. The math activity helps the students to practice their math skills in an engaging way. The magnetic action is fun as well as self-checking. These products have been used primarily in learning areas. These learning areas promote independent work habits and reinforce skills that are learned in class.
Additionally, we have been using the student rewards to help enhance the behavior modification system that is used in my classroom. The students work hard to control their behaviors to be able to choose from the "prize box".
The materials that have been donated are rewarding and fun for my students! We are so grateful for the funding and continued support we have received!”

Loads of Learning with Learning Centers
Funded Mar 22, 2017My students and I are so appreciative of your generosity. The project I chose for my classroom is especially important to me as my students gain so much from working in Learning Centers. We were fortunate to get funding for Reading and Math Learning Centers. These educational materials have provided them with fun and meaningful ways to practice the skills they have learned.
The students use the Phonemic Awareness and Word Building Magnetic Activity Tins to practice what they know about letter sounds and blending the sounds together to form words using a fun magnetic action. The Learning Sight-Words Activity Chest provides opportunities for the students to practice reading and writing their sight-words. I have expanded on the activity by giving them small legal pads to write the words they have read. If they are able to do that with ease they may also write a sentence with that word included. The students work independently or in a small group with these materials. These activities have provided them with a feeling of success and pride. They often show their work to their friends or anyone who walks in the door! In this way I can differentiate the activities to meet all learning levels in my class.
The math activities that we received have engaged the students in a fun and meaningful way. The Math Activity Folders allow the students to apply what they have been learning in math in a hands-on experience. The students can complete these activities individually or in pairs. The Magnetic Numbers and Counters Activity give the students the opportunity to explore with numbers in a variety of ways. They can match numerals while counting objects or make number sentences.
We are truly grateful for these learning tools. It was an exciting day when our packages arrived and we were all able to explore with the activities that were gifted to us. Thank You!!”

Read with Me!
Funded Dec 20, 2016My students and I are so appreciative of your generosity. The project I chose for my classroom is especially important to me as my students are on their way to reading with fluency (and some are already there). These educational materials have provided them with fun and meaningful ways to practice the skills they have learned.
I use The Word Work activity as a learning area in my classroom. The students work independently or in a small group with these materials. This tool allows them to explore with the letters and the sounds those letters make to build words. I have expanded on the activity by giving them small legal pads to write the words they have built. If they are able to do that with ease they may also write a sentence with that word included. This activity has provided them with a feeling of success and pride. They often show their work to their friends or anyone who walks in the door! In this way I can differentiate the activity to meet all learning levels in my class.
The sight word books have provided the students, at all levels, with pride in reading. Even the beginning readers are able to read parts of the books and feel success. This activity encourages independent reading and will help all of the students to be successful as they move along as readers. I have built on this activity by giving each student the opportunity to write about what they have read. This differentiated activity allows the beginners to express themselves with drawings and writing simple words found in the books. More advanced readers are able to write about what they have read, using what they have learned about letter sounds and sentence structure. The students read these books to themselves and to each other. They also enjoy showing their reading skills off to visitors in our classroom!
We are truly grateful for these learning tools. It was an exciting day when our packages arrived and we were able to explore with the activities that were gifted to us. Thank You!!”
