Landscape Escape
Funded Oct 23, 2009Our project is complete and it would not have been possible without your generosity. The students in my second grade art classes have had such a wonderful time painting on a real canvas! With each class before I could get all of the projects instructions relayed to them they were interrupting with
"What is a canvas?", " Can we keep it?". "Will we finish it today?", "What is it made out of?"! Once they were back under control from their excitement and curiosity, I was able to show them the real canvases they were about to paint. Many were amazed, and most could not wait to be called to the painting table. We reviewed what a landscape is and reviewed the rules for painting. Each child was left to decide which landscape of their choice they were going to paint. Some chose to paint an abstract landscape, some chose to paint trees in their landscape and others chose a landscape of a sunset. All were so pleased with their work, and so was I! Unless you have experienced the joy and excitement over learning something new with children, it is difficult to explain. I truly have the most rewarding job in the world, and that was brought home again for me with this project.
Thank you so very much for caring about my students, and for allowing us to have this experience. It is one we will all remember and cherish for a very long time.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. ANDREWS
