As I previously mentioned these children have experienced quite a bit in their few years. As they are amazing students, certain circumstances still definitely take a toll on them. These children have experienced loss and trauma, bullying from not fitting in and frustration with not knowing the language. I want to give them a quiet space as an outlet from all of the negativity, I want them to have an inviting relaxing place where they can focus on all of the good in their lives and read and write or just meditate and have peace. In their tumultuous lives I really want them to have a sanctuary. This will serve as an option for reflection rather than punitive punishment, an area to take risks in their writing and be inspired with positive surroundings and simply a safe place to collect during the day. This meditation area will include a water element that will offer calming ambiance and sound, comfortable pillows
