Number Sense!
Funded Dec 31, 2017Thank you so much for helping me fund our magnetic 10 frame project. Our materials arrived right after winter break which was perfect timing to start learning our numbers 11-19. As soon as the box arrived, I unpacked its contents and the students had fun experimenting making numbers with the counters. The magnetic 10 frames has made such a big impact on learning math in my classroom.
The magnetic 10 frames have been used to illustrate many concepts such as decomposing numbers, adding and subtracting. The use of these manipulative's has become the best strategy for understanding and clarifying ideas. They have also been powerful tools when unpacking word problems. These 10 frames are such an effective way for students to visualize teen numbers. The students can manipulate the circles to fill up a 10 frame and see how many more ones they need. Because of the magnetic material, I no longer find counters hiding around the classroom. Students are able to have their own board and their counters don't go flying everywhere!
I cannot express how grateful I am for you and making this project happen. The students are understanding math more because of these amazing tools. Not only are they understanding math, but, they are having fun learning and they are succeeding! Thank you!”

Reading is FUNdamental!
Funded Aug 19, 2017Thank you so much for helping me get the books I wanted for my classroom! These books have been an amazing addition to my Kindergarten classroom. My students absolutely love reading these books. We have read and discussed many of the books together as a whole group. I have used them to help teach my students how to treat each other at school and be a good friend. They have taught them many other things such as to never give up and try your hardest, but at the same time that it is okay to make mistakes.
These books are relatable to my students, and offer great opportunities for turn and talks. On the first day of school we read the book Kindergarten Rocks to get my students excited about coming to school. We read the book My Mouth Is a Volcano to teach us the rule that it is not okay just to call out but rather we need to raise our hand when we want to say something. When tattle telling became an issue in our classroom we read A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue to teach us when it is okay to tell the teach and when not to. It is really amazing that my students are able to learn these important character traits while also developing their reading skills. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded May 23, 2017Thank you so much for providing such incredible resources for my students! The speakers have really changed the dynamic in my classroom. My students absolutely love them. Every morning we play a song to help us transition from morning work to the carpet for morning meeting. We listen to instrumental music throughout the day to help us focus on our writing. We can even watch brain pop videos and go noodle videos without having to strain our ears to hear the computers little speakers!
In addition to the speakers, the glue has also been put to use already. For our first bulletin board we created Chicka Chicka Boom Boom coconut trees with our names written on them. Without the glue we would have not been able to create these!
The speakers and glue have been a great addition to our classroom. With generous donors like you, our classrooms become even better as we are able to provide more opportunities for our students. Thanks again for your support!”
