One area my students struggle the most with is listening and speaking. I know first hand how nerve wracking it is to try to overcome learning a new language and having the confidence to speak to native peers. I'm requesting Kindles so my students will be able to learn hands-on at their own pace. The Kindles will allow students to listen to stories or practice listening to audio conversations to boost their listening and speaking confidence. In my classroom, we practice listening and speaking daily using cooperative learning strategies. The addition of technology would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening and speaking. Students who are confident in their listening and speaking abilities will be ready to face the challenges of higher education and the workplace.
