  • Tactile Books for a Special Ed Pre-K Classroom

    Funded Apr 21, 2024

Thank you so much for your gracious donations towards our project! With your help, we were able to purchase all of the books on our list which have increased reading engagement immensely.

These board books caught our students' attention immediately and they enjoy looking at them in our reading area within the classroom. The ability to pop the bubbles encourages students to look at specific parts of the page as well as helps them to count the items while they are popping the bubbles.

We've been changing out the books in our reading area depending on our monthly theme to keep the students engaged in reading and it's all thanks to your generosity. From my classroom family to you, we want to once again say THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Maita

  • Sensory Play in Preschool Special Education

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Our students love the classroom items. Especially this school year where our students are beginning to play a lot more both independently and with each other. They work really hard every day on developing fine motor skills while learning to follow directions. We appreciate you taking the time to invest in our classroom! We promise to utilize the purchased items to improve our students' education while keeping the learning environment engaging and fun. Every day we see major improvement in skill building amongst our students and we owe that to you! Thank you so much!”

  • Help My Special Pre-K Kids SOAR!

    Funded Dec 30, 2017

The items we received has helped our classroom tremendously over the years. We have used the materials to create so many adapted books to cover our monthly themes and various concepts in preschool.

The students use the books to do things such as counting, matching, practicing positional words, and following directions.

Without your supplies, we would have been limited in the type of books we could expose our students to. We enjoy seeing the students light up getting to participate in story time on a level that's easier for them to understand.

    THANK YOU!”

  • Motor Room Makeover & Tactile Toys

    Funded Nov 6, 2017

We have received the items for the motor room and it has been made-over!!! Thank you so much for your generous contributions to help make our motor room more functional for our special students! The kids especially enjoy using the roller coaster. To see them slide down it with a smile and then push it back up to the start so they can do it again is just amazing! They are demonstrating such independence! They also love to crawl in the tunnels and hide from one another.

The Do-A-Dot markers and other items have been particularly handy in our classroom! We are able to do a lot more art projects and concept learning by using the markers to graph, paint, count, etc. The tactile objects have been very useful for our students with visual impairments. We are getting a lot more reactions from them. Again, thank you for all you've done for our classroom! We really appreciate you!! ”

  • Manipulatives for Storytime in a Special Ed Classroom!

    Funded Jul 27, 2017

Thank you so much for helping make our story time come to life in this pre-k classroom! My students are beginning to participate in re-telling stories by using the manipulatives. These items have particularly come in handy for my visually impaired students. I can have these students participate in story telling by providing them with tactile manipulatives that they can hold while I describe the objects to them. The students focus more on rhyming songs when I provide them with the visual stimuli and they can participate in the songs by removing or adding the objects as we sing about them. We are truly grateful for your donations and intend to make story time a fun time and instill a love for literacy throughout our classroom.”

  • iPad Mini for SPED Pre-K Classroom

    Funded May 21, 2017

The iPad has been a huge hit in our classroom! Our students love using it in circle time to trace letters, numbers, and shapes. They use it in one on one time with an adult to play stories, listen to music, work on concepts like counting, etc. The students love the apps that allow them to make things appear like pressing the screen to cause fireworks.

The iPad has also been an awesome way for me to take pictures of the students and easily add data to our system. We appreciate all that you have done for our classroom! THANK YOU!”

  • Manipulatives Needed for SPED Classroom!

    Funded Sep 22, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. We have been using these items daily!!! The Jumbo animals come in handy when talking about animals during our science discussions. We also use them to put in our color of the month bin for students to pick an object. The mat we have decided to use in our reading area and it has added a lot of color to make our room POP! The alphabet letters we use when we discuss the letter of the month and sing our sign language songs. The sorting shape bags we use for the shape of the month which allow students to reach in the bag and pull out an object. We appreciate you for helping to make our classroom more functional! :)”

  • Toys for Severe Special Needs Students

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

We are loving the items that you so graciously donated to us! The students have been able to swing in our classroom during our gross motor play if the weather has been uncooperative for us to go outside. We have also been successful at getting one of the students to sleep while she's swinging during nap time! Yay!

Our adaptive toys have been a blessing when teaching students how to use their adaptive switches. They love being able to tap a switch and see the butterfly light up and play music. They also love seeing the dog walk across the table and bark when they tap the button. Some students get the biggest smiles being able to interact with a toy now. To see their faces light up is very rewarding! I can't possibly thank you enough or show you just how much you've positively impacted our classroom.”

  • Beanbags, Pillows, & Other Necessities for a Severe SPED Classroom

    Funded May 4, 2017

Thanks to your generous donations to us, we now have a room that actually looks like a classroom! The bright, vibrant colors create a whole new visual atmosphere for our students to enjoy on a daily basis. We have already gotten a compliment from our Assistant Principal on how wonderful our room looks now and she said it looks as if I have been teaching for 15 years, which is all thanks to your contributions!

Our students have really enjoyed laying down and crawling on the pillows in our play area. They also enjoy sitting on the comfy bean bags when we are reading to them during our center time.

The posters have also been a wonderful addition because the students stop to look at them while they're exploring our classroom and I am able to refer to them when teaching lessons. We are using the pocket chart as our monthly word wall, where I add vocabulary that we've learned each week.

Our class really appreciates what you've helped us accomplish! Together we have made this classroom fun and functional! Thank you so much!”

Our classroom is a preschool severe needs special education classroom that currently has 5 students with different abilities and disabilities. Our students are globally delayed which means they are delayed in all areas of development: cognitive, social-emotional, adaptive, gross motor, fine motor, and communication. Some of our students are wheelchair bound and some of our students are mobile, but most of them are non-verbal and rely on adults to meet all of their needs. These students are some of the hardest working and loving students I've ever worked with and their dedication to success makes me want to do all I can to meet their needs. Sometimes that means asking for help from people like you!
