We are updating the grounds around the school and will use these supplies to update existing gardens around the building as well as create new gardens that focus on our goals. Not only will this benefit the students in the multiple disabled program, but the entire school community as well. We have lots of goals we would like to accomplish! The students will be learning to replicate natural habitats. We will work toward symbolizing and supporting endurance, growth, resilience, and hope. The students will learn how to minimize the volume of discarded materials and waste through upcycling as well as reduce air and water pollution. The students will also develop ways to nurture tactile, motor, emotional, and language skills through sensory experiences. This will all be accomplished by using the materials and tools requested in this campaign to complete a hands on application of several projects. We will use the various shovels, clippers, and g to help us clean up, dig out, replant in and restore the existing gardens around the building. We will build new garden beds using the raised beds and potting soil where we will feature upcycled garden art and unique planters. We will use the butterfly garden decor to draw interest to our new butterfly garden that we will be designing and creating in one of the school courtyards. We will also be designing a pizza garden where we will grow the common ingredients used in pizza making starting with the San Marzano tomato seeds! To maintain these garden beds, we will collect and use rain water using the rainwater urn to water when needed. We will also use other donated materials to build an insect hotel and create a sensory board that will hang on a wall outside the school building.
