  • Online Science Learning

    Funded Jan 14, 2021

The purchase of ixl.com has allowed my Middle School students to dive deeper into skills that our curriculum only covered briefly. Ixl allows my students to work at home and review the skill(s) that were taught.

Ixl also is being utilized as a math intervention tool to progress monitor growth in mathematic skills. My students that have struggled in the past seem to enjoy the ease of use and the video tutorials that ixl has. Additionally, it has provided a chance for the students that are in a study hall to work on math, science, or english skills.

Lastly, with the continued struggle of Covid, ixl allows my students that have to be quarantined for 10 plus days a chance to keep up with the Math or Science class.”

  • Scientific Calculators Needed!

    Funded Sep 29, 2019

Thank you for providing my students with the opportunity for utilizing a top notch graphing calculator. During a school project on space exploration this year my students will be using the calculators to graph data, run simulation programs and solve math problems.

The students that I have never used graphing calculators, so this will be a good learning experience. I am hoping this will be the stepping stone for several middle school girls to peak their interest in Earth Science/Space Science.

I have several students that are extremely eager to explore the features of the calculators. I cannot wait to observe their eagerness and to see what they accomplish. Hopefully, after the initial group; that group will instruct other students on how to use the calculators.”

  • Supplies for STEM

    Funded Jun 13, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations to my classroom! What might seem to most people as common everyday items, these are essential to allowing my middle school students to design, construct and share creations. As the year continues my students will collaborate to design projects that stretch their minds and allow them to critically think to solve problems.

The students would not be impressed to see the batteries, but they will be impressed when they observe the projects that their classmates display at the end of the unit. I cannot wait to get to the force and motion unit this year and utilize the electric motors. As always, I cannot thank you enough for your donations.”

  • Chemical Reactions--Snow in September

    Funded May 10, 2017

Thank you so much for the generous donations that have allowed me to jumpstart the school year with excitement and wonder. The critical part of 8th Grade Earth Science is to develop relationships and foster a classroom environment that allows critical thinking. The materials provided in this experiment allowed my students to make a hypothesis, collect data through observations and make conclusions all the while the students remained in the dark to what the materials were. This allowed me to emphasize lab safety rules and discuss the format of lab reports.

Another piece of equipment that was provided was the infrared thermometer. For several years, we have utilized the traditional thermometers in my classroom, but every year I seem to lose one due to breakage. I have shown the thermometer to my students are they are amazed at the speed of it compared to the traditional thermometer. This allows me to discuss technology and the impacts it has on our everyday life.

I cannot wait to think of another project and utilize the items that were donated! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Meixelsperger

The materials are for introductory/demonstration purposes to allow the students to inquire how chemical reactions happen. These demonstrations will also allow the students to explore and wonder what else can be done with chemical reactions using household materials. One example is utilizing the snow polymer to make "fake" snow by adding water. After that is completed the students will use "water-loc" and the snow polymer to make an artificial snowball. This activity allows the students to hypothesize what other chemical reactions take place with household materials. Lastly, this demonstration will offer an avenue for discussion on lab safety and household chemical safety.
