My students are a wonderful group of diverse learners. I feel that by giving them a hands on activity it will help them have a much deeper understanding of mineral, rocks, and the Earths layers. Most of my students are from a low economic class, so having access to this type of activity would give them a whole new appreciation for geology. I have found that most sixth graders need engaging hands on activities to make them interested in the topic being taught. I feel this grant would give my students new understanding of the concept being taught and open up a new appreciation for science lessons.
