Because my students have many different needs, they need learning tools that are flexible, can be easily differentiated and have the ability to motivate. Ipads are the perfect tool to help me guide and encourage my students. Often having a learning disability means having difficulty with reading, writing, or math, it can also encompass both small and large motor abilities, visual perception, hearing, and other impairments. This kind of technology can assist and aid students in doing things they might not otherwise be able to do with a traditional book, pencil, and paper tools. There are many iPad applications that will work to help my students be successful learners in both reading and math. The utilities the iPad has built in such as the “touch pad” technology will help my students with fine motor impairments become successful with writing and solving problems. The headphone jack utility will help my students tune in volume and block out other distractions and allow them to focus on the application or activity in use. The recorder utility will motivate them to speak as well as listen. I will be able to guide students one-on-one, have them work cooperatively with others, or individually with the two iPad minis and its applications.
