In my special education classroom, we use HMH texts alongside supplemental books that connect to each unit. My classroom fosters a positive environment where both reading and mental health are prioritized. We have a daily independent reading routine, a cozy reading corner, and a class library to encourage a love for reading. The walls are lined with posters displaying reading, writing, and grammar skills, providing visual support for students. I create a calm and inclusive space where students feel safe, supported, and empowered, ensuring their emotional well-being is as important as their academic progress. Each student receives modifications aligned with their IEPs to ensure personalized learning support. Outside the classroom, I coach varsity soccer and basketball.
