Budding Artists Abound!
Funded Dec 31, 2022It was sheer joy as the class erupted in cheers while we unboxed the art supplies that your donation made possible! We opened up the Kwik Stix Tempera Paints and the clay tools and the children bubbled with ideas for how they'd like to use the supplies!
We jumped right into trying out the KwikStix Tempera Paints and decided to make mini-stained glass windows to get a feel for the new art medium. They turned out great! The children commented on the ease of use, the vivid colors, and the feel of the medium in their hands while they worked.
It is especially helpful to have enough of these hand-held paints for everyone to use. There is no shortage of colors and enough of each to go around. My students squealed with delight as they saw how the paints worked so well on the paper. They were most impressed by how quickly the paint dried!
We've started a clay project and will have fun testing out the clay tools as they create clay birds! The class is already planning how they want to carve out the features of their birds in the clay! Having the clay tools will give the children an opportunity to use more than popsicle sticks when doing a clay project.
These fantastic art supplies will be used over and over again by my budding artists!”

Apples for the Learners!
Funded Aug 28, 2019Engaged! Collaborative! Focused! These are some ways I would describe my students as they use the iPads that were generously donated to our class by you! From the moment the iPad boxes arrived, my students have been planning how they'd like to use them in our class and so far, the results have been fantastic!
Currently, students are actively working on multiple projects that require the use of iPads. In our Design Thinking project, teams of students have focused on how they want to represent their team in a culturally responsive and inclusive way by creating a winter light display! While working on the project, they are using the iPads to chronicle their progress, and in the end, will produce an iMovie to share with the class, the school district, and their parents! Additional projects have included planning and advertising a school-wide Food Allergy Awareness campaign, observing and studying nature in our Life Science unit, and coding using apps on Code.org and Makecode.microbit.org.
With all of the projects, the children are more and more inspired to find innovative and creative ways to use the iPads! They design, create, and produce! They code, explore, and research! I am amazed by how the children have guided the trajectory of iPad use in our class, beyond what I had even imagined it would be! Your generosity will continue to bring about learning opportunities for Team Eleven for years to come!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Craig
