  • Brightening Young Minds

    Funded Apr 17, 2019

Thank you so much for helping my Special Needs classroom. My students absolutely love the Light Table and the accessories that go along with them. We work on spelling our names and sight words with the letter tiles, building objects with the Magnatiles to enhance fine motor skills, tracing letters/words with the Simple Words Tracing Tiles, and several math activities with the counters and trays. The Light Table helps give my students another avenue in which to learn. They're more motivated to complete their activities, especially in reading and math.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated and my students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Snyder

  • Motor Breaks to Support Learning

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping my students get the tools they need for motor breaks/sensory activities within my classroom. We use these amazing tools throughout the day as a break between academic activities. It is a way to help them to get motor input while engaging in fun activities.

My students were so excited when the materials began arriving. Of course they wanted to play with the new items and so we let them explore at first. Now there are specific guidelines for using each tool. I have made choice charts for them so they can choose what activity they want to engage in when they complete their academic tasks.

These sensory materials have improved both student behaviors and learning as they are now able to engage in much needed motor breaks throughout the school day and focus better on academic tasks. Thank you for helping us get these great activities. We are truly grateful for your generosity. The materials will not only help my students this year but can also be used in years to come. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Snyder

  • Apple iPads = Special Education Success

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

Thank you again for the generous donations you gave to my class in order for us to purchase iPads. My students love being able to use technology in the classroom for both learning and fun. Not only are the iPads fun to use but they help keep my students engaged. Additionally, it helps those who have fine motor difficulties and don't really enjoy pencil/paper activities.

We are using the iPads for several activities. They really enjoy using a site called Voki where they can make a cartoon character summarize what they have learned in a particular lesson (i.e. tornadoes vs. hurricanes). We also use them to read stories together rather than having to make hard copies for the students. Some additional activities that we do on the iPads come from our Unique learning program as well as Tumblebooks, Writing Wizard, and Reading a-z to name a few. We also have found some math programs that the students too.

Students also love to earn the iPads when they are finished with their work and have some leisure time. I let them free explore on the apps that I have put on the iPads. All of my students truly enjoy using the iPads.

Thank you again for your donations. My students, TA's and I really appreciate it!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Snyder

I teach in a self-contained Intellectually Disabled - Moderate classroom. My students range from Mild to Severe/Profound and some are identified with Autism. My students are in grades 3rd-5th. They're a diverse group of students who are a lot of fun to work with. I feel like I learn something new each day.
