Things we do in life often have measurable results but the extent of their impact is often difficult to quantify. Your gift has had an impact upon our program far beyond the obvious and measurable financial help. My students are working on valuable skills that will help them foster relationships, experience shared enjoyment, and develop teambuilding skills that will help them become productive members of our society.

Just this week during the scooter hockey game, my students huddled for the first time to strategize on how they would work collectively as a group. This is incredible progress for our students, who struggle with basic social skills. They are now taking on the roles, assigning roles to each other and carrying out their responsibilities not only during the game but carrying over these skills into the classroom. They display a great deal of motivation to problem solve together by discussing possible solutions and alternatives.

We continue to use the Co-Oper blanket and Rolling River Raft which are great methods to help them envision the concepts of cooperative play. They realize now that we need each member to accomplish the task of moving the raft or manipulating the blanket.

You have helped promote a feeling of kinship and camaraderie with our students because we continually experience shared enjoyment. These materials are impacting my students and will continue to impact future students that enter our program. We are not only touched by your generosity but more so by your shared desire to give back to special needs students.
