Diverse Books for Diverse Learners
Funded Oct 19, 2017Words cannot express how thankful I am for your donation to support our classroom! When our books arrived, the students were thrilled and anxious to start reading. Our classroom now has over 200 new fiction and nonfiction books for the students to enjoy. The books are already leveled so the students know which books are appropriate for their reading level and are boosting their reading confidence. The books are benefiting all of our students because of the wide range of reading levels.
In our classroom, the students are immersed in reading most of the day. They participate in a Reading Workshop, where they rotate between reading independently and reading with a partner, along with reading on the computer, working with the teacher, and working on spelling. This new classroom library has provided the students with engaging and interesting books that has helped support their reading stamina when reading independently and with a partner.
The students have especially enjoyed the books during our nonfiction unit. The colorful and vibrant books are wonderful examples of how authors can teach through their writing. The nonfiction books teach about a variety of topics, including animals, plants, dinosaurs, cars, cities, and even slime! Let's just say that the students have a hard time putting the books down! Thank you again for your support. These books will continue to spark the interest of students for many years to come.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Morris
