A Variety Of Materials To Support Scholars' Responsibility And Creativity!
Funded Mar 13, 2017Thank you for donating to our Responsibility and Creativity project! We have been enjoying our new materials. The scholars are enjoying their new responsibilities in the classroom. I have also had the opportunity to update our schedule, job poster, and Solution Kit cards throughout our room. Now that we have a printer in our classroom, I am able to print in color whenever I need to. It makes it much easier for me to create colored visuals for our classroom.
We received our new mailboxes (shoe organizer), during our Creating and Constructing area of study. It was perfect timing because the scholars we able to watch us put together the organizer. We talked about following the instructions or plan, using special tools needed, and taking our time to put the organizer together. It was such a great hands on teaching moment.
In the photos you can see the scholars filling the mailboxes with papers to take home. Not only do the mailboxes create jobs; putting the papers in each box, it helps support independence too. My scholars are now able to put their work in their own box instead of always leaving the room to put their materials in their backpacks. It is very helpful for each child to know where to go without having to ask to leave the room. It also saves me time from having to hand out paper and/or fill Friday Folders. We love it!
We are so grateful for these materials and the learning that comes from them! Thank you so much for your generosity. My scholars and I are truly grateful!”

Learning Math By Exploring, Building, and Counting!
Funded Mar 2, 2017Thank you so much for donating our Math project. My scholar have truly enjoyed exploring and strengthening math skills using these materials. I knew by the looks on their faces when we opened our packages together, that these materials would make a difference.
My scholars have been building structures using the Magna Tiles. It has been so fun to join in their play and allow them to explain and discuss their creation with me. The Magna Tiles consist of different size triangles and squares. The scholars love naming the shapes and telling me why they used them. I can see learning happening everywhere!
The Counting Cars have also been a huge hit with the scholars. I introduced the cars as a small group working with scholars on one to one correspondence and counting in sequence to 10. My scholars were very engaged and were asking to stay in my group longer. My nest step is to put the Counting Cars and other math materials in the Math Center in our classroom. I want my scholars to be able to choose these activities and to continue to learn more during play.
I am pleased with the new math materials. They have motivated and challenged my scholars to learn and strengthen their math skills. I have also observed children playing and building together who may not typically play together. These materials have helped my scholars socially by guiding and encouraging scholars to share, take turns, and using their words. Thank you again for your generosity, you are making a difference!”

PreK Loves To Learn Through A Variety Of Sensory Activities!
Funded Mar 29, 2017Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. My scholars were so excited to learn about our new sensory materials! As soon as the boxes arrived in my classroom, we all worked together to unpack them and see what was donated to our class.
My scholars have been really excited about the number, letter, and shape sensory tubs. We have used them both in small groups and during our Active Learning (free play) time! I have been so pleased to see scholars who are not as interested in recognition activities so excited about them! I know these materials are engaging and will help all scholars learn letters, numbers, shapes, and even sounds. The best part is I can use them a variety of ways to fit the needs of all learners in my class.
My next plan is to add more tools in our sensory table with the Kinetic Sand. We have ice cream scoopers and cones to use with the sand. The scholars have seen the materials and are so excited to add more. I have also had a family comment to me about their child's recent excitement. They said their child has been coming home describing our new materials and how they have learned so much. I love hearing these stories from families! Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded Mar 1, 2017My scholars and I want to thank you so much for donating to our Clean, Healthy Kids project! We now have a variety of materials to keep our classroom clean. I am certain it will make a difference not only by keeping our scholars healthy and in school, but it will also teach them responsibility.
My scholars have been so excited to help erase the boards in our classroom. They often come to me at the beginning of the day, already asking me if they can use the Magic Eraser and be the board helper. I know have created a new "job" in our class, Board Eraser! I love when new ideas and things such as jobs are driven by my scholars interests.
I enjoy seeing my scholars contribute to the well being of our class. It is fun to see the motivation and willingness to help keep our space clean. We now have materials for easy clean up. Thank so very much for your generosity!”

I See Me! Books That Celebrate Diversity!
Funded Feb 27, 2017I would like to thank you all for donating to our "Books that Celebrate Diversity" project. I have received the books and put them into our library right away. My scholars were not only excited to get new books, they were excited to see themselves on the covers and inside of the books. We took the time together to open the box when it arrived and look through the books together. Right away, I had scholars sitting around the room room "reading" books individually and to each other.
One of my Spanish speaking scholars said, "Look Mrs. Parins, these are Spanish words!" That scholar was so excited, I sent one of the books home for her and her family to borrow that day. The excitement and importance of learning about various cultures was celebrated that day and has been celebrated ever since
At the end of each day, I have been asking my scholars to choose one of our new books for me to read aloud to the class. We have been enjoying new things about the cultures represented in my classroom. These books have made an impact on my group of scholars and their families in a very short time. I thank you again for your donation. I knew these books would make a difference, but I had no idea how much we would connect to and learn from them.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Parins
