  • Pre-K Art Exploration

    Funded Apr 12, 2021

Thank you for your donations. It has been so fun to see the reactions of the scholars every time we use new materials. In Pre-K, we were able to create a sensory station. The scholars can visit the station to explore the sand and foam beads.

My scholars have made so many creations. I have noticed some of them using the sculpting tools to add texture and details to their sculptures. The scholars have also used the station as a way to calm themselves throughout the day.

Thank you again for your generous donations. Donors Choose has been an important way to get new, exciting materials in our classroom. I love to see the impact it has on our scholars and learning!”

  • Sketch Book Fun!

    Funded Mar 26, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations. When I first planned the materials for this project, we were still in school. When our schools were shut down due to COVID, I had to rethink how I would use these sketchbook materials.

During this school year, I have created sketchbooks for my learners who are in person. I also created a set of sketchbooks to send home with our virtual learners. It has been so fun to see how the children use these sketchbooks. Many of them will draw at home and send me photos of their work. My in person learners will use the sketchbook at the beginning of class or when they are finished with their work.

Thank you again for the donation. It has been fun to create an official sketchbook for my students. They children enjoy having a place to keep all their amazing drawings organized!”

  • Exploring Art Through Play!

    Funded Apr 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation. My scholars were excited to get our packages in the mail. We opened our boxes together and their faces lit up with excitement. We have been exploring and building using the new sand. It is so fun to see the scholars encouraging each other and teaching each other how to use the materials and tools.

The feelings and emotions mats have been a great way for scholars to express themselves. They are able to use the play doh or sand to create a face that matches how they feel. I have watched so many of my scholars make connections and can see them smile, even under their masks. Thank you again for your donation.”

  • Stools Are Cool!

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to my project. My scholars love the stools in our classroom. My Pre-K scholars say, "I feel like a big kid!" and "I am taller!" My first and second grade scholars have said that they like being able to move around on the stools and that they are more comfortable than our chairs.

I feel it is important to allow choice in my classroom. Every child enjoys being able to choose a wobble stool, chair, and now a traditional stool to sit on. I have noticed that my scholars are taking more time to complete their art. Thank you so much for making my classroom more inviting and giving me the opportunity to allow for voice and choice in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parins

  • We Love To Make Choices In Pre-K!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations towards my flexible seating project. I am excited to be able to offer choices in my classroom of where to sit. Many of my scholars enjoy the wobble stools. They are able to move their bodies as the work. It offers something fun and different when working at tables!

My floor chairs and cushions have also been a big hit! There are a few scholars who are still learning to sit with us as a large group, but have joined us on the rug using one of our new special cushions. The floor chairs have also been a unique way to sit and play. They are soft, colorful, and best of all, my scholars love them!

Thank you for helping me fund this project, you are making a difference:)”

  • Bring Life Cycles To Life!

    Funded Apr 8, 2019

Thank you so much for the life cycle materials! We enjoyed taking care of our caterpillars and watching them grow. My scholars watched them every day. We had amazing discussions and even wrote about our observations.

When the caterpillars turned into butterflies, we observed them in our butterfly home for a few days. We watched them dry out their wings, eat, and grow. Then, we had a special butterfly release day! We all had so much fun saying goodbye to our butterflies and watching them fly off into the air. Thank you again for bringing to life our life cycles unit!”

  • We Love to Paint in Pre-K

    Funded Apr 25, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations. We opened the box of our art materials together! My scholars were so excited to get started using them. First, we made a seed cycle picture using the card stock paper. Then, we made a plant with green paint and our hand prints. The "messy mats" are perfect for doing painting projects on top of. Next, we will set out the paint and get creative. I cannot wait to watch my scholars explore and express themselves through art. Thank you again for helping us get new painting materials!”

  • Teaching and Supporting Social Emotional Skills in School

    Funded Mar 23, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to our project. The project has helped to fund online courses on Conscious Discipline. I have already been able to dig deeper and implement new strategies in my classroom. I am so excited to learn more about teaching social emotional skills to my scholars.

I know my scholars will no only benefit from learning these skills in Pre-K, they will also be better prepared for kindergarten. We are a school family and love and care for everyone at school. Thank you again for your generous donation. I am so excited to learn more about Conscious Discipline!”

  • Calm and Inviting Space to Learn

    Funded Mar 1, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation to our project. It has been so fun to begin to transform our classroom by changing out our colored pocket charts. We love having our new earth tones rug and having new materials for our bulletin boards has complimented it so nicely. It is amazing how these new materials make our space feel updated and more importantly calm and inviting. My scholars have noticed the changes right away and have enjoyed helping me revamp our room.

I can't wait to continue to make changes to our bulletin boards with new boarders and paper. Thank you so much for donating to a project that really makes our room feel new and inviting!”

  • Let's Spell Our Names and New Words!

    Funded Oct 5, 2018

Thank you so much for the magnetic letters so we practice learning letters and spelling out our names. My scholars have enjoyed matching letters to our alphabet charts as well as spelling out their names and words around the room. There are enough letters for each scholar to have their name spelled out and extras to create other words together. I am so excited to come up with more ideas and activities using these magnetic letters. I know these materials will help my scholars learn their letters through engaging activities. Thank you for your generous donation!”

My FULL DAY PreK class is filled with enthusiastic and eager to learn four and five year olds! We have a very diverse class where love and learning is the foundation. I create an environment that engages ALL scholars. To engage my scholars, I provide them with opportunities and materials that fit their needs and that they feel connected to. I am always looking to update books and materials to represent the scholars in my class. For example, adding to my classroom library, books with African American characters or books in Somali or Spanish, or adding an Asian family to our dollhouse.
