Authentic, hands-on science opportunities will be provided by the materials of this project. The experiments we can do with these materials will increase student engagement and create an enthusiasm for learning, as science becomes real, rather than just facts out of a text. "Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no one should be denied it."- Alan Moore. Science is much more than dry, inapplicable facts from a book. It requires exploration. With wire, the students can construct electric circuits to see how to they work. They will also be able to discover magnetic properties when they perform experiments with magnets. The use of the scanner will allow me to keep the students' assignments organized in one space. It will also provide a way for me to share work with parents, when necessary. Furthermore, rather than bringing a pile of papers home to grade, assignments will be online for me to correct, which will speed up the process and give the students speedy feedback.
