The academic rigor that is required in school can sometimes be stressful for students. Students with disabilities often experience twice the stress because they are constantly trying to keep up, but fall short because they also have to compensate for their lower skill levels. They can get frustrated or upset and can act out, refuse to do work, or completely shut down. The couch and recliner will be used in my classroom for students to read, work on iPads, take a few minutes to relax and/or refresh so that they will be ready for the next activity. A donation to this project will help my students be more successful at school and help them take charge of their emotional well-being.
