There are so many things that we have been yearning to do in my classroom that would be made possible with these chromebooks. I and the three other World Languages teachers are each making individual requests to pool our chromebooks for our classroom needs. Students and teachers need to work with technology, and be neither consumed by it or left behind. This will provide us with healthy exercises of using technology for educational purposes. We will be doing various presentations and emphasizing the need to create high-quality presentations using various presentation-making platforms (not just churning out boring powerpoints!). During our Germam music and cultural history lessons, we will make our own songs and record them as groups, allowing kids to learn how to use basic digital, music-making software while exercising their knowledge of German. And perhaps most importantly, we will be using them to allow us to communicate with students across the world. We will be skyping with students. This will allow them to hear other native-German-speaking students, form bonds, gain different perspectives, and experience German as a real, tangible language used by other people their age.
