Help me create an inclusive library for my third grade classroom. This collection includes works that highlight people of color, as well as a number of books that provide insights into often overlooked historical figures. The books in this collection offer wonderful possibilities to expose students to individuals and stories often under-represented in classroom libraries in America. Written by the first African-American prima ballerina, 'Firebird' by Misty Copeland inspires students to learn how hard work and dedication can lead to achieving their goals. 'Hidden Figures' by Margot Lee Shetterly chronicles the true story of the women who helped NASA launch Americans into space. 'Little Leaders' by Vashti Harrison is a New York Times Bestseller that tells the true stories of 40 amazing black women who changed American history. 'Ellington Was Not a Street' pays tribute to the innovators that changed the world and the importance of Black Culture in America. Such works can be used daily in our classroom to enhance students' literary exposure, as well as provide authentic learning experiences for readers as they explore the number of authors and characters represented in this collection. We will use these books to add diversity to our lessons and all students will have access to the library for any reading time in class.
