Setting the Stage for Learning
Funded Sep 29, 2022On behalf of our entire class, I am so grateful for your generosity. My students are loving our new flexible seating. It has opened up many new opportunities for students to work in an environment that best suits them. Students cannot wait to jump into their group work and begin collaborating with one another, whether it is on the peapod or the new couch!
As we enter the second half of our school year, our days will begin to be filled with group projects. This is especially true in the final few months of the year. Lessons from the curriculum begin to be replaced with other hands-on tasks that require students to engage in teamwork and discussion daily. The students are already excited about how this will look and sound in our classroom, now that we have so many wonderful seating options. Again, this excitement and engagement is directly linked to your thoughtfulness and support.”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Classroom Supporter.Revolutionizing Notebooks in the Classroom!
Funded Nov 2, 2018It is truly humbling that I have another opportunity to reach out and thank the Donors Choose community for their support. In my classroom, I am always striving to utilize technology as a means to help my students grow. The class set of Rocketbooks we were able to get has done just that. Students are now able to blend technology and traditional paper-and-pencil activities in a way that had not been possible until now. They can draw thinking maps, show their work on a math task, or even design scientific experiments and easily upload them to our classroom clouds.
Students love when their math work is presented on the Smartboard. Having the ability to engage them in rigorous, authentic tasks and then display student work on the board has sparked meaningful and productive discussion in our room.
These Rocketbooks have also helped students with organizational issues, as they no longer have to worry about misplacing their assignments and keeping them neatly in an already-crammed desk. Students have been able to upload their work into our classroom cloud and it is stored there for them. It also helps save space!
Having Rocketbooks in our classroom has helped us significantly already. As we try to develop digital citizens who are ready for 21st century learning, the ability to connect traditional and digital has been engaging and innovative. Knowing that they have excellent resources to help them succeed has motivated them to take more academic risks, in turn helping them grow academically. We cannot thank the donors enough for their life-changing contribution!

Utilizing Technology to Level the Playing Field
Funded Nov 26, 2016It is with the utmost gratitude that I am reaching out to describe the positive impact your generosity has had on our students. In our classroom, there is a vital need to differentiate instruction in order to help overcome the challenges that may prevent our students from meeting standards. The laptops we have received help in numerous ways. Students are able to access online dictionaries and thesauruses, and even use Google translate to connect new words to words in their native language. These laptops also help students who struggle with decoding and spelling, as they can use Microsoft Word's Spellcheck feature to edit their writing. Also, students now benefit from online programs that cater to students' individual needs.
Students love working in differentiated learning centers on programs that meet them at their instructional level. These online programs present content in an engaging and interactive way. Additionally, students have been very eager to submit their work on the laptops through Google Classroom.
Our students who are classified as both English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities have been very receptive of our new technology. Knowing that they have excellent resources to help them succeed has motivated them to take more academic risks, in turn helping them grow academically. We cannot thank the donors enough for their life-changing contribution!”
