Painting The Garden Wet!
Funded Jul 11, 2014This letter also needs to be addressed to Paula, Joe Giovanucci, and the many that donated through Amonix.
My students were so excited to receive and learn about how the sprinklers were going to help with our garden. We are having a serious drought in California, which my students are also learning about with the help of the garden, and explaining how the sprinkling system will help water more efficiently during the night time hours is making sense to them; yet another lesson learned from our organic garden.
The sprinklers will be installed over the summer and in the early fall, so I cannot show the completed project, as my students are not physically able to work on that. There will be other students and maintenance workers at school to help out my special education class in the installation and to oversee whatever they can complete themselves. However, they will certainly learn about how it is so much more water efficient to water at night rather than in the heat of the day.
Our garden has thrived through my students' hard work, but also through some generous donations received through Donors Choose. We appreciate you all believing in our project and helping us realize our goal!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mann
Well Hello, We Need A Dolly!
Funded Jul 26, 2012We were so very happy to receive our hand cart today! Our room was full of paper that we needed to get into our recycling bin, but we did not have access to any dolly on campus, so now that we have our very own dolly, we can begin our recycling program this year and start not only beautifying our planet, but earning funding for our special education program here at our school.
Part of what we plan on using our funds that we will earn this year for is a special education field trip to go whale watching. Many of my students have never been on a boat, and some have never seen a whale close up, so it should be a very exciting field trip! Your generosity has impacted the lives of not only my students, but many of the students here, as they will also get a chance to go with us.
We are also learning how to give back to our planet through a garden at our school where we plant, harvest, cook from, and donate the excess to a local food bank. It is important for us to learn how to give back to our community, and your generosity has also helped to support that goal in my classroom this year. The hand cart will also be useful for working in the garden.
Thank you so much for your generous gifts. I know my name is mentioned, but only because I cashed in gift cards donated from Alice Rochlin and Lynn Bostain. They were also generous supporters for this project. We appreciate you all! ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mann
This classroom project was brought to life by Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation and 6 other donors.DVD/VCR Combo
Funded Feb 29, 2012We have had so much fun putting your DVD/VCR and tablet to use in our classroom! We are now exercising daily with the use of our DVD and our Autism Movement Therapy DVD. The tablet has been used for communication games and pictures, helping students express their needs and expanding their communication skills.
Without the help of generous donors like you, my classroom would be lacking some fundamental items that are used daily. Not only do we use these things for academic growth, we also use them for much needed socialization and development in life and basic skills areas for my students.
Thank you so much for your donations for my class and my students. We are very grateful to you for providing these much needed and appreciated items! Your generosity is very much appreciated!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mann
