  • House Center Fun and Fine Motor Work

    Funded Jul 17, 2024

The house center got a big boost of fun with the funding of this project. The children adore the cake, ice cream and vegetable set. The imaginative play has been expanded with the addition of these items. We have had many "parties" with the pretend cake. The children use the fruits and vegetables to make pretend meals on a daily basis.

Fine motor skills have been declining over the years in my preschool class. The items you helped us get are a huge help to increase the fine motor skills. The kids can use the items at small group and have access to them all the time at art center.

Imagination and pretend play is essential for the children to learn to work together and work on problem solving skills. We are so lucky to have donors like you that understand the critical impact these things have on small children. Thank you, you have made our preschool room just a little bit more fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Great Start to a New Year!

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

Thank you, for helping us this fall. The children will use these materials at art and small groups. As soon as they arrive, these items will be in the hands of the 18 children in our class. They love doing art projects, and the fine motor skills they are getting stronger everyday. These items will help them continue to grow. The books are delightful and we are excited to add them to our classroom library!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • *Small Group Pattern & Sorting Fun*

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

Thank you for contributing to our class! This will make math small groups more fun. The more fun, the more memorable the lessons are for preschool students, We are so grateful for your donations!! All 18 children will benefit from this donation. We will continue to use these materials next year to benefit even more kids.”

  • Popsicles & Promotions Goody Bags: Educational Items for Summer

    Funded Jun 28, 2022

We used the materials to give each child a bag to take home for the summer. They all got letter flash cards to practice and lots of stickers and crafts to continue their fine motor growth. As more traditional activities like coloring loose popularity and technology gains popularity, more and more children are having difficulty with fine motor activates. Your generous gift helped us provide engaging art projects for them to do at home. The children were over joyed to have a large goodie bag to take home.

We love Donors Choose and we are so thankful to all the people that donate to our classroom and others!”

  • *Return of Sand & Water Tables*

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

Thank you for donating to our classroom. These materials will be utilized as soon as they arrive! The sand and water tables are fan favorites in our classroom, and adding these educational items to them will be very exciting. We will also use the manipulates during small groups, to provide extra learning opportunities with them. Again, thank you for starting our year out with excitement.”

  • Tactile Summertime Kits for Preschool

    Funded May 23, 2021

I am grateful to everyone who donated to this project. This will put materials directly in the hands of children and their families! The fine motor exercises will be incredibly beneficial for the kids to use over the summer. Funded just in time for summer break. Thank you for providing for children who have been negatively impacted by this unprecedented school year.”

  • Butterfly Effect - Preschool Butterfly Study

    Funded Apr 29, 2018

It was amazing to see the butterfly transform before our eyes! The children loved to watch the chrysalis shake and wait in anticipation for them to emerge! They were surprised by the red liquid that came out when they emerge! On a warm sunny day in May we took them out to our playground and un-zipped the mesh tent to release the butterfly's. All six of them flew into the blue sky. It was a great afternoon of science and discussion among the children. The caterpillar cage can be used again for several years. This project will continue to positively impact young children when we use the net habitat to house another set of caterpillars!”

  • Snow Fun for Pre-K-Snow Pants for Outdoors

    Funded Nov 23, 2016

I am so pleased to provide these snow pants for the children that need them to play outside daily. The weather has been very fickle in west Michigan this year, but I always have the extra layer to keep them warm and help them enjoy the fresh air! Throughout the season nine different classrooms had the opportunity to use the snow gear. It is a great sight to see 18 preschool children playing outside together.

On any given day less than 5 of the 18 children bring complete snow clothes, this amazing donation has given us the opportunity to take everyone out, every time, and they stay cozy and warm. The donation will last for years to come, as the pants have washed well, and the children always remember to give them back. Hopefully you can get a glimpse of our time outdoors from the photos. Thank you to my amazing family who made this possible as well as prefect strangers, it truly does take a village! Thank you for helping my village, stay warm and get their bodies moving outside.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

We go outside twice a day and stay outside for approximately 30 minutes each time. Most of the 18 students DO NOT have snow pants. Without proper outside attire, they have to stay on the pavement. As you can imagine, that is no fun for a four year old. Living in West Michigan we get plenty of lake effect snow Outside play is essential for gross motor development in preschool children and they crave the fresh air and playtime! Having a full set of snow gear will eliminate a huge barrier and allow all children to actually enjoy the cold weather and not watch from the sidelines.
