  • First Things First!

    Funded Jul 27, 2018

With your support, the school year started off to an amazing start! The looks on the faces of my students when they arrived at the classroom and saw the beautiful "map of the world" carpet were priceless; the rug has become a favorite during Morning Meeting time as children vie to sit near Africa or look closely at the oceans and animals.

As we celebrate reading and writing, the sight word cards, clipboards, colored card stock and durable plastic take-home reading bags and ink will surely see us through important practice and story publication.

Thank you again for your support; without donors like you, our classroom would be a much less vibrant, inspiring space.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Think Ink

    Funded Oct 29, 2017

We can't thank you enough for your generosity! The ink for our steadfast laser printer and the reading resource book you recently helped purchase will aid us greatly as we strive to achieve our personal best in the classroom. As a teacher, it's a wonderful thing to have materials that you know will inspire your students and make them feel that their individual educational journeys are valued. By having new items like the ones we received sends a message to my precious learners that so many people are there for them, cheering them on, telling them that they matter!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • The Start of Something Wonderful

    Funded Aug 1, 2017

Once again, your steadfast generosity has made it possible for me to secure relevant and engaging resources for my students. The new items are perfect for my class of curious and hard-working English Language Learners. I know each and every one of them will benefit from having materials that were created with their unique learning needs in mind. They join me in saying a hearty "Thank You" for assisting them on their individual learning journeys. You support will fortify them as they take on new and exciting challenges.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Technically Yours

    Funded Feb 11, 2017

My students and I are so excited to have new resources for the classroom! We are particularly grateful for the new headphones; we use Chromebooks daily for math and literacy practice and our existing pairs of headphones are just about falling apart from use. It's so nice to have six new sets to make our learning more smooth and comfortable!

We also love the colored card stock and look forward to using it for our writing projects; it will really make our work stand out!

We are truly grateful for all you do for us. We will continue to work hard to achieve our personal best and make you proud.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Bloom Where We're Planted!

    Funded Sep 9, 2016

    Dear Donors!

Our schoolyard garden already looks more beautiful than ever thanks to YOU! The wall planters have been firmly attached to a wooden pallet and look gorgeous! The rain barrel is ready to fill and the stepping stones are both functional and funky. The succulents are quite unique and very different from the vegetation we have in our outdoor space; we are eager to see how they'll grow and change living in sandy soil. We truly can't wait until our worms arrive so they can eat our garbage and help us fertilize. We will all "bloom where we're planted" because of your generosity. We are so grateful for your assistance.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Ready, Steady, Go!

    Funded Aug 20, 2016

    Dear Donors!

I can't tell you how useful each and every resource you helped purchase has been for our classroom. The children squealed with delight when they saw the lapboards for the first time; they love any occasion to use them! The carpet cleaner and handheld vacuum are the envy of all the other classrooms and are helping us keep our space looking clean and tidy. The colorful whiteboard markers make every presentation look festive! We have already used the toner cartridge to print a variety of writing pieces and look forward to printing more. Thank you, thank you and thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Game On!

    Funded Nov 23, 2015

The games have arrived for our classroom and we can't thank you enough for providing such fun and useful resources! When we saw all of the boxes, we couldn't believe it! There were so many new things to love!

It took us a bit of time to assemble some of the items like the "Toss Across" game and the puppet theater, but once they were complete, we got right down to the fun business of using them!

We have already spent many sessions of indoor recess playing and learning. The good times have definitely begun and we can't wait for even more opportunities to develop skills like patience, good sportsmanship, turn-taking and losing graciously.

We hope it will make you happy to know that each day in 201, thanks to your kindness and support, we get to gleefully say "Game On" as we use the learning and playing tools you helped us secure.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Bits and Bobs to Make Us Better!

    Funded Apr 16, 2015

Due to your generosity, I have been able to purchase many items needed to make our last weeks of school that much more productive. With the gift card funds you donated, I bought some toner for our laser printer, some art paper on which to display a variety of writing projects, some coins for our overhead projector as we develop our financial literacy, some heavy duty tape to repair many much-loved and often-read classroom library books, some special art erasers, some sewing needles so we can learn how to sew and finally, a box of overhead transparencies. The children love everything and I love being able to secure new materials for them that will support and embellish their learning. We all send our sincerest thanks.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • Mini Movie Makers: GoPro and the Young Learner

    Funded Feb 5, 2015

We have been having an amazing time with our GoPro equipment! To quote one of the students: "I can't believe we get to use such fancy, grown-up stuff"! We have filmed class discussions, math and literacy work and even the exciting arrival of the live earthworms we will be using to make compost for our garden.

I have enjoyed seeing how focused the children are when they are filming or being filmed. They are extremely careful and responsible and encourage each other to take good care of everything.

Thank you for the opportunity to help my students develop so many new skills. They are maturing by the minute with the aid of sophisticated materials you provided for them!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

  • A Moveable Literacy Feast

    Funded Dec 2, 2014

Our mobile easel and markers have arrived and they've been an exciting addition to our classroom! Opening the huge box provided the first thrill. The students were not only excited about the materials, but were also amazed at the large sheets of packing styrofoam which they immediately wanted to use to make art sculptures!

We put the easel together as a group and when the last wheel was secured, cheers erupted! A ceremonial "roll" across the room allowed for even more glee and marvel.

The easel and markers have been used by small groups to share their ideas, by individual students to document their thinking and by teachers to display information for the whole class. Its mobile feature makes it that much more useful in our busy space.

We love our mobile easel and the colorful markers we can use to write on it! Thank you for your donations and for coming to the table for our Moveable Literacy Feast.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Santagate

My students are curious, creative and kind and they love a good challenge! Our classroom creed, borrowed from Ohio educator Tony Keefer, is as follows: "We will ask thoughtful questions. We will read voraciously. We will write voluminously. We will think deeply. We will work to be better today than we were yesterday." Our city is an inner urban suburb of Boston with a diverse population. While life in this urban environment isn't always easy, my students' desire to know more and do more trumps any and all hardships.
