My students are growing their technological knowledge in leaps and bounds while using iPads, laptops and desktop computers in our classroom. This equipment is shared theoughout our entire building. For almost all of my students, this is their only opportunity to explore the use of technology that will prepare them for a successful future. In June 2017, had the opportunity to attend STEM training at Cleveland State University using of the SPHERO SPRK+. The SPHERO SPRK+ is a robotic ball which takes the mechanisms used to control toys and uses them as a way to teach children the basics of coding. SPRK stands for "Students, Parents, Robots and Kids," and thanks to app connectivity and a teaching platform, the robot does what it says on the tin. SPHERO can be used as a valuable teaching tool to gently introduce children to code.
