Adapting books to make reading interactive, engaging, and meet the range of needs in my classroom will be possible with a book binding machine and materials. I would use these supplies to adapt books by our favorite authors, create interactive readers to target IEP goals, write social stories, and publish student work to share with their peers and families! Adapting books give/my students a clear purpose for reading. Printing on cardstock and laminating the pages help to keep the books durable and allow them to be enjoyed again and again! A book binding machine would allow me to rebind children's books we love and to create spines for books the students and I create. Velcro is needed to create movable pieces and interactive visuals to allow the students to show their knowledge (even if they do not yet have the language)!
