Students love to hear, "I love that, where did you get it?" and being able to answer,"Thanks! I made it!" They find pride in their work and enjoy sharing their talent. Project based learning is at the heart of my curriculum and my students thrive when given access to machines that help them bring their creativity to life. With this embroidery machine, I will challenge my students to make popular, on-trend items to sell for future fundraising projects. Being able to monogram jackets, backpacks or add our school logo onto handmade scarves will help raise money for our department and eventually buy new sewing machines. Students will feel a sense of ownership of the new machines, because they helped to buy them! I also can't wait to show students how they can choose a career in the fashion field and someday incorporate embroidery into their businesses. With websites like Etsy, Shopify, and even Amazon Handmade, students can learn how to make items to sell and start their own businesses following high school. The handmade marketplace is booming as people are searching for locally made items and supporting small businesses more than ever!
