The students in my classroom need to have ready access to as many different types of books as they can. Students with learning disabilities as well as some with emotional disabilities and others with autism compose my high school reading classes. Even with access to some direct instruction reading programs, I have found much greater success when a student finally finds a book that speaks to him or her and wants another one by the same author. Students will read more if they are interested in the book and they can relate to it or find a personal connection. Please help my students become readers!
